but this could be couse of Ubisoft retarded move and how there handeling the deactivation of online services for alot of games apparently Ubi is retarded and even single player is messed up now in alot fo them (or so people are saying) though issues with ubisoft games is nothing new
search around and you will see alot of issues have come up here after that annoucment though and quiet alot fo lawsuits are lookign to be filled agenst ubi sooo yeah
there is a disclaimer in third party eula from ubisoft when you buy game from them (that it might not work in the future because services bla bla bla) and in most of the european countries you can't do nothing about it (so no possibility of lawsuit against them).
But lately ubisoft is doing everything to anger the possible consumers with what they are currently doing with promotions/game services/ and patches. (latest patch for GRW).
I asked them but i doubt they will reply ... they still didn't reply to my help request from 2 days ago sent from their launcher.
Imho, it might be another issue more directly connected to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) failling to keep up with the bandwidth that you've got a contact for.

This is a security measure following an update to the client, in order to play some of our legacy games within the client.
If you're still having the same issue when prompted to sign in after launching the game, could you please try;
- Signing into the Ubisoft Connect client before launching the game
- Install the latest version[ubi.li] of Ubisoft Connect
