Didn't work. Be proud though, you've done more than Ubisoft support ever did.
If this problem has been happening on and off for so many years, Steam should remove Black Flag from the Steam store completely.
Ubisoft did some things a while back and screwed things up, I don't know what they did but I hope it doesn't happen again.
They made changes that fixed most issues but some out there have issues that persist. If you have problems getting content to work, submit a support ticket on Ubisoft's website so they know that your having these problems.
That's what I had to do and they eventually, after some back and forth, got it working again.
Yeah, I went back in this thread and read everyone's comments. I'm glad you got yours fixed through ubisoft support. Steam did in fact refund my purchase, which is good, but I do really wish it would have just worked. Before, I purchased the Freedom Cry Pack DLC on steam, around January of 2021 and that didn't work. However, because I had a considerable amount of hours in the game, I couldn't get a refund and so steam told me (sometime this past summer) to either buy the Gold Edition of the game (on steam) or the standalone version. I don't want the standalone version because I want to make sure that my achievements on my ubisoft connect account count in Black Flag so that's why I either want the season pass or some way to play Freedom Cry within Black Flag. So yeah, fast forward to yesterday, I purchase the Gold Edition on the last day of the Autumn Sale and nope. DIdn't work again. I did all the tricks that people tried like not keeping two factor authentication, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, verifying game files, making sure all the keys were authenticated in connect, etc.
I'll probably keep tabs on this thread and seemingly, when the issue has been resolved, I'll see about picking it up on steam.
Or.... I just wondered if people who purchased the DLC or Season Pass through Ubisoft Connect are having these problems as well? Through their own storefront? Because if they aren't, maybe I should wait until Christmas time to see if it goes on sale and just get it from ubisoft.... Hmmm potentially a workaround?
To my understanding, any time you purchase the game and/or purchase again, you'll have a new license attached to your account. I'm guessing that a license may be conflicting.
Ubisoft issued me a new key and then, when it still wasn't working, told me that they removed a "template" for an older copy of the game they thought was conflicting with my steam version. Then it was working correctly.
I waited about 7 months for Ubisoft to get my copy of the game working on steam. At the time, they had rework a bunch of stuff and fix individual accounts still effected. I know how frustrating this is. They'll get it working. It's only a matter of time.
We don't want to know how long we should have to wait if it is normal priority then huh.....
This might be a helpful tread for those who bought "Freedom Cry" as seperate DLC on steam:

I had purchased the retail standard physical edition of the game when it came out.
Then years later, I purchsed the standard edition on steam along with the previous "Season pass" bundle, before they upgraded it to the "gold edition".
Ubisoft support removed the physical licences and the standard edition licences from my Ubisoft account, and provided me with a steam Gold edition key.
Once I opened the game, it recognised the correct licence and unlocked the season pass content :)
Hello I'd like to ask. I currently have one gold edition key.
Am installing the game right now, but went ahead and activated the key on my Ubisoft Account. Will I still be able to get all of the content?
If you didnt have any other edition, like the previous 'standard edition' or 'deluxe' then you should be okay.
Downloaded the game today, everything works without even needing to start the story. Hopefully when I get around to installing it again nothing bad changes
I have already contacted the Ubisoft support site 4 times! And they told me that they knew about this problem and that they were trying to solve it. But for 2 years no one helped me. Here is my access code: 16462661. Помоги заебал
