AC4 doesn't detect keyboard/mouse, only controller

Hello,

I have a problem with my AC4 - it doesnt detect keyboard and mouse, in options there are k/m symbols, but nothing works. I can play only with XBox controller. Doesnt matter if the controller is off or on, connected or not, I can't play with k/b. In AC3 there was a possibility to change 'device' (k/b or controller) in options, but in Black Flag I don't see how to change it.

Could anyone help, how to play on k/b?

Problem exists for me also.
Original AC works.
AC2, AC3, AC4 en liberty which I have through steam don't recognize kb or mouse pushes.
AC2 revelations and brotherhood which I have but not through steam don't work either.
ACU works.
Editing or deleting the ini file of AC4 didn't solve the problem for ac4.

Same problem here. Starting AC4 results in my cursor being stucked in the top left corner of my screen. I thought this might have to do with my newly reinstalled system (because before that I never had these issues) but -as someone said- maybe it's connected to Unity. Interesting.

• Deleting AC4.ini doesn't work
  
• Changing the line in AC4.ini doesn't work
  
• Disabling Controler doesn't work (I don't have any, but I played a bit in the device manager and disabled anything that was not related to k/m)
  
• Running AC4 as admin doesn't work
  
• Check for damaged game files doesn't change anything
  
• AC4 is the only AC Game with these problems for me. All other ACs work
  
• Once AC4 suddenly worked after a reboot of my pc but this can't be the solution -.-

Any ideas anyone?

Edit: Ok, now it works. What I did (after the previous mentioned attempts) :

1. Quit steam
   
2. Start Uplay
   
3. Start game (it will launch steam before the game starts, but that's ok)
   
4. I smashed some buttons to quit the logos and it worked

Now I can even start AC4 via steam (the normal way) and it works.

I suspect that Ubi has given us a 2015 present, and F**ced up our game in the process - just a suspicion.

Even after fixing this issue once, after playing several hours of Watchdogs, then later resuming my AC4 game, the problem repeated. Fix worked also, but there is clearly some issue with Steam/UPlay, AC4 and Watchdogs.

Note that I do use an XBOX360 controller for driving in Watchdogs (driving sucks with mouse and keyboard, same with GTA IV, Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row 3/4 ), but I always unplug it after I'm done with it.

And the same splash screen appears before the main menu each time about Exclusive Content, telling me to "goto Havana to collect the reward". I go there and find nothing... I've only seen this splash screen when the game bugs out like this.

Same issue here after purchasing this game during Xmas sales. Running W7 HP. Editing the ini file did not yield any results. I will try other options as mentioned here. Thanks for not being the only one with this annoying issue.
Update: deleted the ini. file, unplugged my controller, restarted uplay and went into the game with properly working keyboard and mouse. Issue solved!

Apparently just as long, as you don't play with a controller. As soon as you plug in a controller, you'll have to start AC IV again through uplay. Offcourse, you can simply start AC IV everytime through uplay with steam off...

CONFIRMED - offing steam works.
Deleting and changing .ini didnt, unplugging didnt, running as admin didnt. Killed steam, killed uplay and ran AC4 from desktop (Ac4 shortcut). WORKS!

Necro Bump for great justice and visibility in light of the recent sales.
Just bought Watchdogs yesterday during the Aussie price error and played that for a spell, had this same issue when trying to get back into Black flag just now and this solution worked also.

Been playing a plethora of other Ubisoft games in and around this for weeks until now without issue, so what someone said earlier about Watchdgogs being the culprit seems likely.
I don't even have a controller for my PC at all though. :S

Attention all MSI Afterburner / RivaTuner users: it seems that RivaTuner had been causing the issue. At least after I added AC4BFSP.exe from the game installation folder to RivaTuner, the problem disappeared. Interestingly, I didn't have to change the setting (only Custom Direct3D support seems to prevent ACBF from starting), and even after deleting the exe from the RivaTuner settings, the game detects my keyboard. For all I know, it could have been the mere act of closing and re-starting MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner.

Edit, quit both steam and ubisoft launcher, start ubisoft launcher and the game works for me. Screw this ♥♥♥♥ lmfao.
