i thought this was a assassins creed game not age of conan wtf is going on ?!?!? did they do a CawuhDewty gost thing and make sum fancy fish ai thats takes a trilion lines of code? or maybe they wanted to be the company that makes massive grass mesh advances . next gen grass now it actually simulates what real grass does in real time so you can watch the grass grow in assassins creed black flag thats totaly worth 30 gigs of space to learn about soil erosion and soil leaching >.>

but seriously what the hell did they do to justify 30 gigs of space ? i cant think of another free roam game that isnt a mmorpg that does take 30 gigs of space. so i doubt its has to do with free roam especially when most of the area you can wander is covered with water and you should be on a boat ...

and at 30 gigs i doubt the recomended specs are good enough to run this without micro stuters

its 8.6 more gigs of stuff that probably is just different fish and coral textures and it will probably constantly need to stream these from the hd to ram . and you wont see them if you dont jump off your boat . go watch the vid on youtube . thats why im suprised . if they new anything it would be less maybe 16 gigs . if you look at the map for black flag that they show in a vid on youtube you would see a ton of water every where

also are you counting dlc or something it looks like assassins creed 3 is 17 gigs

My Witcher 2 install is 40GB with the REDkit.
I had a Fallout 3 install that was right around 20GB
RAGE is 25GB
Max Payne 3 is 30GB - and that's mostly 1080p videos
The Witcher 3 will probably be 50GB+
Killzone Shadowfall is a 50GB install on PS4

Bigger and more detailed games require more space. You don't like it? Stop gaming or quit buying new games.

Dont forget that the ugly total war rome 2 is directx 7 alike quality but it required 20 gigs (store page wrote 35gb). This game is half next generation. 30gigs is reasonable.

a AVERAGE size mostly water covered world . it seems about size of skyrim and skyrim had underground caves and tombs and lots of different ground grass and tree textures and tons of quest and skyrim wasnt even 10 gigs with dlc and a fair ammount of mods (custom hd skin textures ect)

It is not half-nextgen. It is nextgen. The mastered version will be at PS4, Xbox ONE and PC, the release date for pc was delayed to don't have nextgen before the nextgen. For PS3 and Xbox 360 it will be a minor version, as they are not as powerful as the others, so they don't melt.

Here's the thing: if you think the fact AC4 will be 30GB is a deal-breaker, don't buy the game. it's as simple as that.

Skyrim had to be the most monotonous game I've ever played. Every single texture for the ground/roads/trees and caves was the same throughout the entire world.

You have to realize that music and VO take up space as well - Skyim had 3 voice actors and some wolf sounds. I'm sure the vast majority of the space being used by AC4 will be textures, but it's also a story heavy game with far more VO that Skyrim.

Its 30 gigs because its sponsored by nvidia and nvidia is making a 4k push, most wont make use of the tesutres available but the game comes with textures that support 4k displays. its why COD ghosts takes up 50gigs, next gen wants to push 4K teles and monitors.

It will have no effect on performance of the game on an older rig as wopnt be using the 4k textures.

cawuhdewty gost is 40 gigs but cawuhdewty gost looks atleast 5 times better than acbf

they didnt remake the whole game . they just retextured some of it . there basically saying this is set up to be on par with the xboxone and ps4 versions so go spend more than you need to on pc upgrades or go buy a next gen system if your rig isnt up to par

whats funny is the store page suggested specs you know that isnt good enough . so they still want to lie about minimum and suggested specs . copy and pasted suggested below

you know hd fish scales cant be rendered properly on those old gpu's . and the 4k textures will probably kill any ones pcs because of all the different ... wait for it ... fish types. thats right the game is going to be poorly optimised and want you to have the best looking gupys . infact they probably lied and you only get 2k textures on characters and 4k of gupys and coral ...
