Hidden Blades & Blowpipe Lost!
After finishing a diving bell mission in the game, Edward's hidden blades and blowpipe can't be equipped anymore. I've done some research and it's affecting lots of people across all consoles. Any solutions would be great.

I found these in the forums... haven't seen the bug myself though... but I also don't have the diving bell yet.

To regain the hidden blades, play Sequence 2-2 until you get the hidden blades, then crash the game (either Alt-F4 or Ctrl-Alt-Del). When you restart the game you will have the hidden blades again. To get the blow pipe back, repeat this process on sequence 4-4.

Ah, this bug. I WISH this bug would happen to me. Here is the breakdown in case anyone stumbles on this thread and either A. Wants this bug to occur so they can (maybe) get rid of the hideous looking blowpipe, or B. Want to fix the bug.

So,

What causes this bug:

Ambergris Key (Coordinates 55,178) is the only diving bell location where you do not exit the "Diving Bell" mission by returning to the bell itself. You start the mission from the diving bell, then swim to a smugglers cavern with people in it, and you exit through a leap of faith off of a cliff into the water and swim to the Jackdaw. The reason this bug occurs is because there is no "loading screen" fade out back to the Jackdaw since you do not return to the bell. The bug happens whenever you swim to the Jackdaw and touch the wheel. The game SOMETIMES (hasn't happened for me yet) reloads your character (does that weird digital fade out/in thing, similar to when you upgrade a holster or buy new swords/outfit) without the blowpipe and hidden blades. As I said, I have not had this happen to me yet, and the game reloads my character fine. (unfortunately).

This bug occurs a lot more for the console version, and this is the only post I've seen with it happening on the PC.

What is funny is that there are just as many threads/discussions on various gaming forums asking how to REPRODUCE the bug to get rid of the blowpipe just as there are as many on how to fix the bug, haha. So Ubi, take note and give us options to remove weapons! The horrible looking brown/tan wiggling blowpipe on my all black outfit looks retarded and ridiculously out of place for a pirate. Very immersion breaking.

Anyway, you also lose the hidden blades with this bug. Here is how to fix it, and how to get back the hidden blades and blowpipe (why would you want the blowpipe back?).

Replay both missions where you get these weapons, then quit RIGHT BEFORE the memory ends. What this means is:

For the hidden blades, wait until the weird big hat spanish idiot gives you the blades from the box, then go through the tutorial on how to stab strawmen, then wait until the old fart templar guy gives you the ring during that cutscene, and after you all drink from the glasses. There will be a few more seconds you can walk around in that small room before he tells you to meet you at the harbor in the morning. Quit RIGHT BEFORE it fades out here. (Alt+f4)

For the Blowpipe,

After you get the pipe, play through the mission where you rescue the assassin groups, then quit right before the cutscene where kid opens the pigeon coup, and the weird idiot tribal assassin tells you that you are banned from their order of wearing plants and blowing stupid darts. (can you tell I hate the blowpipe?) once again, quit by alt+f4'ing

This should get you back your weapons. If you successfully got rid of your weapons by replicating the bug (lucky you!) then you can just play the hidden blade mission to JUST get the hidden blades back, but youll oddly have to recraft two holsters for your pistols if you already have 4. No clue why that happens, must be something in the background that makes sense to the way the game progression happens.

Good luck in reproducing/fixing this bug. Hope this helped a little, as I have been searching far and wide for any means to get rid of the stupid blowpipe. I have even gone as far as restarting the game, JUST to do all of my free roaming/exploring after I get the Great Inagura hideout, but BEFORE I get the blowpipe so I can then just go through the story missions as the last part of my game so I spend as little of time as possible with the stupid blowpipe. Yes, I hate the blowpipe.

Thanks James, both methods worked, even the blowpipe that you hate :)

heh, *I* don't hate it. I was just forwarding the messages I found from other helpful steam forum users I noticed earlier on this subject. XD

Sorry, my bad :)

Hi "TheOrangeSpoon". Just wondering, what Diving Bell mission were you on when the bug happened? I've come to learn that there are more diving bell missions that finish where you don't exit the mission by going back to the bell, and I am trying to reproduce this.
Thanks!

I'm not sure which one, all I know is that after I returned to the ship, I immediatley started steering with the ship instead of going into the cabin and putting an outfit on. Hope this helps.

I was able to replicate the bug. No blowpipe :D. Just grab the wheel after any diving bell mission and immediatly open the quick travel map. close it and open it quick again at the moment where you can't see Edward when his equip is loading. Open the map exactly at this moment and travel for example to havanna. Maybe you have to try that serveral times. Have fun!

From what I recall doing with this was go to the captain's cabin *before* grabbing the wheel, change my outfit and I had everything back because it reloads your character entirely. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that's how I did it.
