How do you check your ship's level?

How do you see the level of your OWN ship? I can look through the Spyglass to see levels of enemy ships, but that's quite meaningless if I don't know my own ship's level and therefore how it compares!

I don't think you can, however, you can judge it. If you look through the spyglass at the enemy ships, they'll either be white or red depending on the difficulty. Do this for awhile, and you'll be able to tell which levels you're in between.

The Jackdaw doesn't have a level to my knowledge. I think the levels of other ships is just to give you an idea of how strong they are. Although if you pause the game and select "Jackdaw upgrades" from the pause menu it will show you what percentage of upgrades you have, split into three categories: weapons and armor, storage and harpooning.

It has. When I was driving the Queen Anne's Revenge to board that Man O'War the Jackdaw was level 24.

You don't need to know your own level to judge which enemy you can take. You learn that from experience.

"Ohh look, a lvl 23 frigate, I just got my aft handed to me by a 17 brig so best leave that one be."

Is it bad when a level 75 legendary ship doesn't scare me even though it's red

Having the same, 46 Warship is red, but doesnt even scratch the 2. health bar. Legendary Ship gets me nearly the 3. but...well :D

it is possible as in the mission where you steal the Portuguese man o war and sail up to your ship if you look through your spy glass you see your ships level, but that is the only time I think

The Jackdaw in max upgrade has a level of 45, and can only be seen when doing the 10-1 section after you took over the Man o' War.
