Russian Language Only?! Here might be a workaround for this.

Hi.

Not sure if this was already posted in the Steam forums but I just want to help people who purchased the RU/CIS Version and don't want to use Russian Language.

The registry option won't help. I am not sure if this will work for Steam users, but it worked for Uplay users. (Such as me)

NOTE: This is only for the singleplayer! You will have to re-do the steps everytime you want to play the game!

Step 1: Start the Multiplayer of Assassin's Creed IV.
Step 2: Switch to your desktop again. (Alt + TAB)
Step 3: Copy an original multilanguage "localization.lang"-file and paste it into your Russian Assassin's Creed IV folder. (I can provide the localization.lang if you want)
Step 4: Switch to the Multiplayer again, and press "Switch to Singleplayer".
Step 5: Enjoy your language. You can now choose your language in the options.

You can try other ways to convert RUS locked version to multi8

Edit the language.lang with hexadecimal editor and change:
position 4 put 03
position 6 -> 1F
position 7 -> FF
position 8 -> 1C
position c -> 2C

You only have to do it once, the game will always start as multi8, singler o multiplayer.

You will be able to change the menu, subtitules and audio language.

Maybe it's not too late and someone still will find this helpful, but Fiztan's solution just added a lot of other language options, but not english one. For me game works in english when I set all those positions(4, 6, 7, 8, c) in localization.lang to 00

the game wouldn't launch when i tried this fiztan method worked but you we're right about the in game audio been every other language but english it's a shame anyone found another way past this?

Dude can you share your edited hex code? I changed those positions to 00 but it didn`t work.

Step-by-step instructions:

Download a hex editor:

Download and install a hex editor, such as HxD or Hex Editor Neo.
Open the localization.lang file:

Find the localization.lang file in the game folder (usually in the localization folder) and open it in a hex editor.
Changing positions:

In the hex editor, each position in the file has its own numbering. The positions in the file are organized into lines, where each cell is one byte.
Find the positions you need to change:
Position 4: Set the value to 03.
Position 6: Set the value to 1F.
Position 7: Set the value to FF.
Position 8: Set the value to 1C.
Position C: Set the value to 2C.

These changes may force the game to run in English.
Save the file and run the game:

you're method worked only for the dialogue language it is in English now , but for subtitles fortunately I found Arabic , which is my native language , and in the game interface I couldn't find Arabic and English
