i've got a gtx 780 with a core i7 and 16gb ram. I'm playing it maxed with the d3doverrider triple buffering fix, and i've found that the fps can feel pretty close to 60fps, but when running around havanna the fps can dip in spots. the real odd thing is that regardless of my settings, it still seems to perform just as well. as in max settings gives me the same fps as min settings.

also the game is fps locked to lik 60 fps max and the games built in vysnc locks you at 30

Its a great port. Much better than AC3

Runs bad and the graphics are dated.

Runs fine on my i7, 8GB ram, gtx 580
I've set it on 1920x1080
pretty much everything is on max except
God rays - Low
Shadow quality - soft shadows (medium)

game looks amazing and runs smoothly so i can't complain.

Yah that's not true at all unless you're running on a min-spec machine...

AC4 is a must have in the series. No reason to pass it up. It's good and plays well on reasonable settings while looking beautiful!

Runs good for me, gorgeous looking game. Best AC yet and im only 9 hours in!

these people are lying to you... there are plenty of performance analysis articles if you're interested in truthful, unbiased information.

http://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-pc-performance-analysis/

summary from above article:

All in all, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is a mess on the PC. Although the game scales on four CPU cores, it does not take advantage of them and the performance differences between dualcores and quadcores are minimal. The game also suffers from low GPU usage when numerous graphical settings are activated. A single GTX680 is able to run the game above 35fps, provided you are not CPU limited. As always, those with newer CPUs will be able to overcome the game’s limitations thanks to the additional raw power of their processors. Still, this does not mean that the game is optimized for the PC platform.
Graphically it runs pretty bad, everything on max I can't get constant 60 fps with a 770 and i7 4770k, but with a few things turned down its fine.
PC controls are very good though, they improved them alot from the other games imo

I do not think people are lying to this person, I think they just enjoy the game and there is no problem with that. I do find the frame-rate a bit iffy in some areas of the game, but the controls still run smooth on my controller, the game looks beautiful, and multiplayer runs great in a full group.

I do think the performance issues will vary from computer to computer, however. No one runs the same gaming rig, after-all. I do not reccomend getting the game if you are running on Minimum spec, but if you have recommended or better, I say go for it as long as you are a fan of the series. If you are still unsure, wait for the game to go on sale and get it then. That is all I can tell you.
