The very first time they introduced James I instantly thought it was a woman. When they said he was a dude I was like really? That seems like a chick, alright then.

Btw Mary Read is one of the two women who were caught and tried for piracy during the age of piracy that all these people existed in. The other being Anne Bonny. They are history's only notable female pirates from that time.

I turned totaly gay after meeting James Kidd.

The second he/she opened his/her mouth I immediately knew that it was a woman. The only question I had was whether they used a female voice actor to make him sound youngish or because he was secretly a she.

Bah, I had the same thought, except I really wasn't sure of the character's gender at all. The voice sounded feminine, but it could also just be that he's really young and has a higher pitched voice. Once I thought it was just the voice actor, I forgot about it and just assumed he wasn't a she...

Biggest "I KNEW IT!" moment without genuinely being 100% sure.

It was pretty easy to tell Kidd was a woman. But what baffles me is that Kidd dresses as a man has a much thinner face model than Kidd as a woman.

I'm not certain, but I think that the game takes place over the period of several years. It's likely that she either put on weight or possibly the atmosphere caused bloating or something (or it's just a developer oversight when making the new model, who knows)
