Saving Pirates
Is there any benefit to saving pirates before I get my first command? I've been running around Havana synchronizing viewpoints and getting treasure and collectibles, but would I be better off waiting until later in the game to save pirates?
Thanks!

dont bother syncronizing just get the time saver dlc it reveals everything for only 1 dollar, so no need to go running around anymore.

I synced everything but the assassin contracts (didn't make sense since Ed's technically not an assassin yet), but I did help out the pirates when I could even though there's no discernable reason to. It just felt right; helpin' out the bros.

While saving pirates on the beggining doen's count to your ship, they do give you 200R cash for saving them at least me it was.

I made 34k running around saving them.

Yeah, no real benefit. The tutorial in the game is way too long, not to mention you don't get half of your equipment for a LONG time. I'm about 50% in the game (on a save file) and I've received dart gun about 2 missions ago and still no diving bell in sight.
you have to purchase it big guy.

I agree with that, they need to cut you loose a lot sooner. Saving the pirates doesn't count toward your crew early on, but don't fret over it, you'll be constantly gaining and losing crew throughout the game, so free them now if you wish, you aren't going to miss out on anything.

..? It's still marked as "you need to progress further in the main story" in the upgrades menu.

Chump.

Thanks for the info everybody. I"ll agree that it just "felt right" to help out fellow pirates, even with no benefit. Not going to buy the timesaver DLCs. running around synching and gathering collectibles is part of the fun for me. But I appreciate the heads up.
