Game crashes at disclaimer screen

First off, I've installed the new 331.82 drivers from nvidia. I run AC3 (andBF4) on high/ultra at 50-70 fps, and I meet and exceed the required specs to play this game.

GPU - GeForce GTX 680 4gb
CPU - AMD FX 8350 8 core
RAM - 12gb
OS - Win7 64

The game unlocked earlier and I restarted my steam to find a 17gb download after the inital pre-load. I came back after an hour or so and was ready to play the game. I launched AC4 through steam and the Uplay came up and all that. I logged in and game launches and freezes on the very first screen (he “This game was developed by a multicultural team of various faiths and beliefs.” screen) and get the error "ACBFSP.EXE has stopped working..." I tried it again, same result. I reinstalled/repaired the 331.82 nvidia drivers, and it locked up there again. I then tried installing/repairing the directx redist and .net framework 5.4.1 manually, it crashed at the same spot. I then deleted the whole game and reinstalled it and nothing...

I'm out of ideas. My rig handles anything I throw at it, except AC4 for some reason... HALP!

i am having same problem and so are others, sounds a like a bug. worst thing about it for me, i started buying PC over consoles now that i have a rig for gaming and a lot of launches have been ♥♥♥♥ on PC that would have been just fine on consoles. this ♥♥♥♥ sucks

I had this issue, but it crashed/freezed before the disclaimer for me.
What fixed it for me was that I closed FRAPS before launching the game. Try that if you have it running.

I have now started experiencing this. I had stopped playing for about a week. So I started it up today, and uplay asked me install this 100+ mb patch. Once that was done, I just can't even get to the game menus anymore. I see the muticutural teams disclaimer which jsut sits there until I push a key and then nothing but black. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!

I've got the same issue, but it started after another program stole the window focus and the game crashed when re-entering it. Game doesn't work at all now, either crashes at or before the disclaimer screen.

as i launch assasins creed 4 black flag steam thinks its running but i cant find it, sent emails, still cant find it but steam thinks its running!!??

Getting the exact problem. Its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Does anyone have any idea when they will fix this or even if they give a ♥♥♥♥?

Some of the crashes (Mostly in either South America or South Africa, it's only ever referred to as 'SA', and Israel) are related to corrupt patch files. Replacing them with ones from another region unaffected by the problem (like the UK) seems to fix the problem. There's a link to a Dropbox file containing an uncorrputed patch file on the official forums.

It hasn't fixed it for me though, it's something to do with the UPlay connector or savefiles.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. TRIED EVERYTHING LIST IN FORUMS AND UBI SUPPORT.
then I REINSTALLED ON ROOT DRIVE C: WHERE MY OS AND UBI LAUNCHER IS AND NOW IT WORKS. I FORGOT I HAD TO INSTALL FAR CRY 4 ON DRIVE C: AS WELL
