AC 4 Companion App

Anyone going to use the companion app, while they play? Looks interesting, and not having to open the map in the game, but chooseing waypoints in the app and having them automatically update in the game seems promising (If it works they way ubisoft says it will).

I would use it but sadly it's only for tablets and not for mobile phones...

Even if it comes out for phones, it won't come out for Windows phones. Just look at the Spider-Bot app for Splinter Cell:Blacklist. Gear to unlock through the app, unavailable to muppets like me. :-(

I'm not planning on getting the app, no. While it does sound like an interesting concept, I'm not sure how much it will actually add to the game. I think that this kind of thing may lead to worthwhile additions in the future, though.

Since I hate opening maps that take up the whole screen; yes. Plus, I always hated AC's ingame map more than any other game! I don't know why but it felt a whole lot slower and less friendly to navigate than most ingame maps. So yeah, a map on my phone will be a lot nicer! I just hope that in the event they decided to add things similar to ACIII's homestead that I will be able to manage ALL of that from my iPhone instead of having to quick travel somewhere, run to somewhere, then run inside, and open a UI that crashes the game half the time...all from my phone. I havn't spoiled any of the gameplay in AC4 but something tells me it'll have some sort of economic trading thing...being the Carribean sea and all. I seriously hope they let me manage all of that from my phone instead of the game.

I already have an iPad, and it's free in the app store, so I might as well download it and try it out.

I've tried this workaround on my HTC One X smartphone running Android 4.2 and it works. It's not like you'd see it on a tablet or anything but heck, IT WORKS!
Also I'll add that it eats your battery incase you want to try it out.

PS; those that care to try and can't exactly get it to work can poke me and I'll see if I can help.
PPS; I didn't try changing the DPI settings like they mentioned below. It either works using the first step or it doesn't.. :)

Well, apparently they're still updating the software and according to a higher up at UBI they're looking into making a smaller app for the smartphones. Untill that time I'm taking my chances with this.

I've just installed it on my moms old tablet which runs Android 2.3. It's slow as hell but the screen is bigger.

Guess my final setup will be using the tablet as minimap the entire time and my smartphone when I'm out and about to do missions with the fleet. :)

A phone version would be great (my tablet diesd on me a few months back). I'm mostly curious, maybe that sucks as hell, but I find the idea nice.

Well, you can try what the OP typed up in the link you put. I allready had a fileexplorer on my phone to move the files around. It's really quite simple.
Also I doublechecked the files for virusses, there aren't any if you're wondering.
I wouldn't bother with the rest of the posts since that involves rooting your device and I'm not quite fond of that.. :P

Well... no biggie.

Nexus 5.
And it crashed to the homescreen. I think data not found would have been a hint ;D
As far as I checked, that's the DPI thing. A friend had it running following the comments given. Which includes rooting. Which I won't do (yet and if I don't need it).
