progress lost after installing OS
hi,
i was playing the game about 5-6 days and had 50% progression in the game main story, i have installed fresh copy of windows todays and the game itself - run the game and i can't continue playing from the point i had before .... Uplay cloud sync is on and steam 2. wtf !? :'-(

Sorry to say this, but there is no help, i've lost my save too but "luckily" i lost only 25% so from 75% to 50, as painfull it is u have to go all over again...

Thank you for your reply Schmack. the strange thing is that i lost all my progression in ACBF and Splinter cell black list as well . the common thing between those games is that they are both Ubisoft's Games and both use Uplay. which make me to believe that there are something wrong is going on with Uplay Cloud synchronization after the last update ...

Now you know! For future reference start backing up your game saves as a percautionary. I know you shouldn't have to do that, but it saves a world of frustration and aggravation.

i mean come on man, today every platform (uplay,steam,origin) use cloud saving technology...Never even thought about backing up my game's progression save files.
It's really useless in my opinion. according to Ubi forums all players have this problem since Uplay cloud servers is down. maybe after it start working again everything will be fine. who knows

Is it down? Well thats hope. I just posted in another thread that I lost everything since I updated AC4 this afternoon. 72hours of play just gone. I did not back up as well, never had to ...

I lost my saves too, I had finished the campaign and a lot of side missions. I'll have to restart the whole thing again. I think I'm gonna start backing up saves too.

That sucks - but "good" to hear I am not alone. I wrote a complaint to ubi support and first thing I get is a standardized text that I should copy over my backup files to the savegame folder (wtf?! as if that were a normal thing to do) or try activating the cloud sync; hilarious, since that is what was turned on and actually causes the problem.

If nothing helps they are sorry but I would have to play from the previous spot of the savegame.

Thats when I wrote back - friendly - that my problem is not a messed up savegame but the missing savegame alltogether. I mean hey, the start menu even shows me the subtitle of the sequence you`re in, but the only option I get is to start a new game as all save-slots are empty.

Still waiting for their reply.

In any case, I will turn off cloud sync AND set the uplay to offline mode AND backup my files after each session. This way nothing gets lost should they be able to restore something in the cloud...but I am losing hope.

Well then, off we go to a speed run. I definitely will not do side quests or collectibles - lost the taste for that. Just want to see the campaign ending.

Again - if anybody would happen to have savegame files for sequence 10 or 11, please send me a note! I would REALLY appreciate it.

I'm not sure for the OS reinstall, but for the others you may be able to try this - go to Programs (x86) > Ubisoft > Game Launcher > Saved Games > <insert gibberish folder name>, and try copying over the files to the most recent (highest numbered) folder from the previous one. This worked for me when Uplay seemingly wiped saves on all of my games a few months back. Still, best to set aside the files you're replacing before you try, just incase.

Thanks for letting me know ahead of time. I'm planning on doing a fresh intstall of windows. Going to back up those saves.

Nope, does not work for me. Folder with nr. 437 is for AC4 and once those were overwritten by the cloud you just can forget it.

Just got a peply from Ubisoft Support:
"Unfortunately we can not find, repair or revert save games.
You will need to start from the bigiinning again.
We advise to play without the cloud sync on to reduce the chance of loosing your save game.
We appologize for any inconvinience. "

This is a pretty ♥♥♥♥*d up situation. because of Uplay Cloud servers down alot of peoples including myself lost all progress in AC BF and Splinter cell black list too, and now they are telling me to start from scratch !? :'( no way

I just got the reply that "engineering knows about the problem and is working on it." They will post on the support site once the problem is resolved.

Well apparently that adds up to the confusion. One would assume the support teams know about things on an international basis. Apparently not and so we still don`t know whether the problem can actually be solved. For me its the german support.

This issue just hit me. Fun times. Have had so many bugs with this game.

Edit: Oddly the save works fine on my other computer even though I didn't play much of the game on there.

Same here! The services offered by UPlay are really messed up. No excuses!
