I am stuck in the Observation room. I have reached the stage of moving under one of the outcrops by using a series of pipe beams the last one of which shifts me to a wall. There are force fields on the face of the wall. I can reach the point where I get passed these but then have to make a reverse leap to another wall ledge to move forward towards Torres. Everytime I reach this point I can't make the jump and fall. I have tried shift+D, shift+D+spacebar, and every combination between. I have looked at one of the videos showing the leap so I know it can be made but I can't figure out how to make it on my PC version. Any ideas?

Try shift+S+spacebar, to do the jump, that should work.

Are you getting hit by the force field? You have to time the jump to Torres just right. The beam your hanging from moves far and then closer to the platform he is on, and there is a dome shaped force field that will keep appearing and disappearing. Its the hardest part. Gotta be patient.

And just Shift+Spacebar is the only thing you need to push to jump directly behind you. About 99% positive. No D or S needed.

But you want to wait for Torres to be highlighted and the forcefield to clear and just hit the attack button to air assassinate...Thats easier, imo.

This is the wall you have to cross before the phase above Torres and the field that covers him at intervals. If I hit shift+spacebar or shift+S+spacebar I jump into the abyss and desync. I have tried every combination and end up jumping or falling into the abyss. I know something should work on the PC controls but I can't determine the combination. If you look at the IGN play through from about 11.15 minutes in you can see the wall and the jump needed.

It's the slightly to the right and backwards jump, is it? You don't have to make that jump like that. Instead jump up one ledge, wait for force field, shimmy to the right, around the corner and you're there.

I concluded that you can't make the reverse jump work on the PC. The videos are from consoles where, it seems, you can. I used you advice and moved up past the force field and then around the corner, etc, and got Torres. Many thanks.

No, backward jump is possibly on the PC. I learned it actually approaching one of the larger towns: Shift+Spacebar, like one of the previous bloggers.
