I asked this same question a while ago on this fourm and I still dont know what to buy. I think I will just not buy anything.
Deluxe, exclusively, gives you aveline missions in addition to 3 extra islands, although not sure if they are exclusive to deluxe, but the deluxe edition for non US does not include a season pass> The aveline missions are a follow up to AC Liberation HD which is not included and you have to buy it as a standalone game.
The season pass gives you freedom cry and the kraken ship and other DLCs and multiplayer characters not including the aveline mission.
for the current sale I decided that I will buy the standard edition plus the Season pass, it doesn't make sense to pay double the amount and still need the season pass, which means you will only get an extra hour of play, surely not worth paying double
I agree. It is so confusing. How can be a company that 'stupid' ? :/
Reason is that whatever version you buy on Steam is permanently and irrevocably locked to your Uplay account and there is no way to buy an upgrade to the Gold version.
There is no other way to get Aveline and her missions.
Of course, you can create a second Steam account AND a separate Uplay account, using a new email adress that's different from your current Steam + Uplay email addresses, and buy the Gold Edition and just pretend that you're a different person...
I actually contacted Ubisoft and offered them the full (at the time) Gold Edition price of $80 to upgrade me to the Gold Edition, and they said there was nothing they could do.
So yeah... get it now while it's dirt cheap. And enjoy it for me. :/
Step 1: Make game, devide the game into confusing packages to insure no one person can play all the content, and people dont know what to buy to get the full game experience.
Step 2: ?
Step 3: Profit?
@LeadStarDude
You claim the descriptions are included on the store page, perhaps they are, and im sure they make sense for someone who has already played the game, but using the store page alone, could you tell me exactly what is included in "Liberation" "Fredom Cry" and the two "Time Savers". How are people to know what is real content and what is just crap shovel wear such as a 15$ hat?
