The only social chest thing I've seen was mentioned in the context of signing up with other players on Uplay and you'll "share" white whale sightings and other stuff, but I don't think I ever saw any but the white whale ones. And those were pretty rare even though I had about 8 people linked up with me through Uplay. Maybe someone who has more experience with it can explain it better.
this app allows you to access your game map and the animus database without pausing the game (or even without booting it), as well as playing "kenways fleet" as if it were a standalone mobile game (but synced up with your actual ingame fleet). you can also set waypoints on this app map and have them appear ingame for you; quite convinient
You know, it's the strangest thing with this sharing. When I looked through the Abstergo Challenges sheet just now I found that I have indeed already shared a chest and two Youal Fleets. I'm pretty sure I know which fleets it was because on my way to Nassau we passed two Royal Fleets which were written in vlue font. I wondered what it meant and considered sailing over to take a closer look but eventually decided to let it go - thinking I'd probably get a chance to find out later on in the story line.
Yeah, I've no white whales shared as of yet and nor have I seen any. But since I've shared things without even knowing it, it seems that you share by looking at something if your settings hasn't locked that possibility. There's a sign that shows you when you're directly connected to Uplay - I thought you were directly connected always, I mean, after all you log into Uplay so you can play on their servers, but even so, there's this sign at the lower left corner, if it was moving/blinking it would look like a radio signal (not a graph though, just a sign).
As for the second screen thingy, I still didn't have the faintest idea about what it meant until I read the post by B.A.Barrackus which I've replied to below here. It kind of says it all....there's no extra monitor hooked up to your PC, indeed it's got nothing to do with PCs whatsoever. Haha.
I see. Interesting. - I was so off then, lol, because I thought an actual extra monitor hooked up with your PC was what it seemed to imply.
Man, that is so cool, what a great idea. I can't imagine why they have implemented this only with Mac and not with all computer types.
In fact, the way it is now, you will sometimes postpone checking your map or the database because you're caught up in some activity that you want to get done before you do anything else. And then, often it turns out that there's some info in the database that might've changed your plans, and the same goes for checking the map....you may see something that would be beneficial to check out right away rather than sailing by and not know when you'll get another chance.
But you're aware of all this, I suppose. :)
