About 'Second Screen' (& how to tackle).
I've just begun playing Black Flag and had a problem early on while chasing after a thief in Havana. Let me start with the problem I had with him first:

When I looked at the results afterwards it turned out I'd only complted the 'challenge' 80% because I should've 'tackled' the thief.

I never noticed anything about tackling the thief (I'm a slightly slow reader), so I missed it and didn't tackle him, but I wanted to re-run the challenge and expected I could do so like in earlier AC games. I went to the Database and looked through every pasage, including Ground Controls and Basic Fighting Controls.

There was nothing about tackling or how you do it, so I'm at a loss. I hope someone can help me and tell me how to do this simple maneuvre?
.........

THE SECOND SCREEN ISSUE:

As I read through the Database I also came upon the interesting feature they call 'second Screen' which enables you - and others - to spot rare items or creatures and cash in rewards for having done so.

I would love to participate in this part of the game, but I can't find out how to enable any 'Second Screen' (I can mention that at this point I do have an extra, but old screen, in case this involves a physical extra screen). But as I looked for answers, all I found was a short mentioning saying:

"9.1 SECOND SCREEN

Access the second screen experience with your external devide to view your game progression,..."

Access the second screen with what external device?? I have no idea what external device they may have in mind, unless they simply mean "hook up a second screen to the one you're already using...". But is it that simple? Is it like some kind of limited co-op experience?

They mention something about these rare items only showing up on an extra map that you share with another person, apparently you can have one that you use alone but it won't work well, you will likely not find any rare items, they write (or some wording to that end).

I'm completely confused about what this second screen is and how it works, so here I am asking if one of my felllow gamers can and will help me fill the hole in my Black Flag education?

I thank you in advance for taking the time.

...........................
PS. ANother thing I saw under Anstergo Challenges, Simulation, was this:

#2 Share 3 social chest locations

Social...chest locations? Is that a co-op or multiplayer thing?.... - Thanks in advance.

When you get close enough to him, then you just press E (by default); it's the Use key, or Interact, whatever that's set to. Then you'll tackle your target.

The only social chest thing I've seen was mentioned in the context of signing up with other players on Uplay and you'll "share" white whale sightings and other stuff, but I don't think I ever saw any but the white whale ones. And those were pretty rare even though I had about 8 people linked up with me through Uplay. Maybe someone who has more experience with it can explain it better.

the "second screen" is an apple/android app; usually when these words are mentioned, they imply the usage of a smartphone/tablet, not an actual second screen attached to your computer (which will be a "duo screen"); very few games support duo screens.

this app allows you to access your game map and the animus database without pausing the game (or even without booting it), as well as playing "kenways fleet" as if it were a standalone mobile game (but synced up with your actual ingame fleet). you can also set waypoints on this app map and have them appear ingame for you; quite convinient

Ahh, cool, glad someone knew something about that part. I wasn't sure.

Yeah, I eventually found out that you tackle by pressing Space and 'E' simultaneously. Trial and error got me there. :)

You know, it's the strangest thing with this sharing. When I looked through the Abstergo Challenges sheet just now I found that I have indeed already shared a chest and two Youal Fleets. I'm pretty sure I know which fleets it was because on my way to Nassau we passed two Royal Fleets which were written in vlue font. I wondered what it meant and considered sailing over to take a closer look but eventually decided to let it go - thinking I'd probably get a chance to find out later on in the story line.

Yeah, I've no white whales shared as of yet and nor have I seen any. But since I've shared things without even knowing it, it seems that you share by looking at something if your settings hasn't locked that possibility. There's a sign that shows you when you're directly connected to Uplay - I thought you were directly connected always, I mean, after all you log into Uplay so you can play on their servers, but even so, there's this sign at the lower left corner, if it was moving/blinking it would look like a radio signal (not a graph though, just a sign).

As for the second screen thingy, I still didn't have the faintest idea about what it meant until I read the post by B.A.Barrackus which I've replied to below here. It kind of says it all....there's no extra monitor hooked up to your PC, indeed it's got nothing to do with PCs whatsoever. Haha.

Ohhh, well that explains at least to some extent why it sounded like Russian to me.

I see. Interesting. - I was so off then, lol, because I thought an actual extra monitor hooked up with your PC was what it seemed to imply.

Man, that is so cool, what a great idea. I can't imagine why they have implemented this only with Mac and not with all computer types.

In fact, the way it is now, you will sometimes postpone checking your map or the database because you're caught up in some activity that you want to get done before you do anything else. And then, often it turns out that there's some info in the database that might've changed your plans, and the same goes for checking the map....you may see something that would be beneficial to check out right away rather than sailing by and not know when you'll get another chance.

But you're aware of all this, I suppose. :)
