Assassins Creed 4 Crashes on Startup
So i just recently purchase Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag on Steam, after it downloaded i was excited to play it for the first time, it started up, and nothing happened, my screen froze. I presumed it was loading. After a minute I got fed up and pressed Windows+D to go to the desktop, and i regained control over my mouse and went down to the taskbar. When I clicked on the Assassins Creed picture, its brought me to a black screen with the loading symbol as my mouse. I waited and when I clicked it turned to a white screen and it said: ACBFSP.exe is not responding, yadda yadda all that. What should I do to fix this?!? I've looked at many things and it isn't a save file as I have never played the game before!!! Help is needed!!

Oh dude, I know! It's a common problem, I was having it as well. It seems to work if you can get it to start in the background. Basically if you are launching it from Uplay, click on PLAY (single player), then REALLY QUICKY keep clicking on the steam or Uplay icon in the task bar, AC4 will be forced to launch in the background and will flash yellow in the taskbar. Click on it and hopefully it'll run for you. It's always worked for me - but get back to me if it doesn't as there are a few more things you can try. GOOD LUCK!

This Just started happening to me also, it's been running fine through steam. I think its the recent steam update in my case. if you just launch Uplay, then run the game through that it loads fine. Until they fix it, run through Uplay only.

You can also run it from a shortcut on your desktop, create a shortcut from the single player executable.
