Frames per second counter won't go away
For some reason there's an FPS counter in the upper left hand corner. I turned off shadowplay since it has one built in and it's still there. I've never intstalled or turned on any other fps counter. It's really annoying. Any ideas on how to make it go away?

That's the one that Steam creates, go to steam settings, in-game option tab and turn off FPS counter

Just looked. Already off. So far this is the only game it happens with.

that is weird.... double check if you've got anything that causes fps counters to pop up, and check any launcher settings you added or not for AC4BF.

The only thing I've ever used on purpose for fps is Nvidia's Shadowplay, but I turned that off because it was causing a counter on movies and such that I would stream online (wwe network, hulu, netflix, etc). But when I turned it off it stopped on the streaming videos and it's still there on Black Flag. It's not even like it makes it unplayable, it's just a very small eyesore lol. It's also a different size and font than shadowplay which really confuses me. Thanks for trying to help by the way.

Maybe posting a screenshot will help. Each one uses a different font, so maybe someone will recognize it...

You're welcome, trying to help anyone I can, even though I'm sort of useless at the moment :D

The plot thickens... took a screenshot and the counter didn't show up in it. I have no idea what's going on. lol

your pc's having fun with you

It's the first documented attack of the FPS Counter Virus. They'll put you (and your pc) in the history books! ;-)

Seriously, I was thinking it might not be possible, since a lot of the fps counter "apps" purposefully don't show up in screenshots by design.

It was Razer Cortex. A program that's supposed to boost your games. I didin't even know it had an fps counter. I googled my problem and one other guy had put in a ticket with microsoft. He figured out that it was that program. So since I had the same program, I looked up the hotkeys to toggle the counter and it worked. Thanks for the help!

I like to think the encouragement of the forumites helps out a little bit, however little help it actually is. Sometimes it's a big help just to have someone to bounce ideas off of and listen while you work things out... :-)

That's exactly it. I decided to google it after EbonHawk said something about other programs.

So, while I know it wasn't the OP's problem, I had this problem after re-installing UPlay for AC Rogue. Apparently UPlay also has a frame counter that was only showing up in Rogue for me. At least as of today, you can get to it by opening UPlay, clicking the three little lines in the upper left, and clicking settings. In General there is an option for Display FPS counter in game. Uncheck that and good to go.
