How do you use "Heavy Shot"?

It's listed pretty much like the regular round shot. Just look to the side, and fire. It just says that Heavy Shot is really effective at short range.

Been playing for quite awhile now, and I have yet to ever use up any of my Heavy Shot, so I'm assuming the Jackdaw is never firing any. How do I use it?

I have it in my ship's enventory: 25 rounds, but I never have to buy any and it never looks like my ship shoots any. I've tried all distances, long, medium, and pretty much point-blank, ram up against the side and slide along the rail of the other ship, and not once has any Heavy Shot ever been used.

It worked. Nice flaming cannon balls went shooting out when I did that like you guys said. Can't tell that they're anymore effective, but glad it's working now. Thank you.
