What Class of Ship is Jackdaw?

Can't help but wonder after spending around 60 hrs on board getting dat rum.

At first I thought that it was a Brig because it had the big pike thing on the front. But yet when you are next to a Brig, you are a good 30% larger.
So then I thought it was a frigate, but yet you are now way smaller. Plus you dont get that awesome 3 round burst thing when you fire like the frigates do.

So is it just a big brig?

Thatch (when you first meet him in Nassau) calls it a brig, and it kinda looks like one. So my money's on brig

In real life the Spanish Treasure Fleet was wrecked off the coast of Florida by a hurricane, the only ship to survive still floating was the Griffon, a French Brig. In AC4, the Spanish Treasure Fleet was wrecked off the coast of Florida, the only survivor being the El Dorado. Somewhere in the animus database it said the El Dorado was heavily modified by the Spanish in order to protect the fleet, hence the enormous firepower of the Jackdaw. In the case of the similarities between the El Dorado and the Griffon being the only ship to survive a hurricane in 1715 off the coast of Florida that wrecked the Spanish Treasure Fleet, I would say that from a historical point of view, the Jackdaw is in fact a brig, albeit heavily modified. I predict that no one will read this post but, hey, maybe it'll clear some stuff up.

It's been ages but I think the game is saying at some point or another that it's a brig. And of course it must be modified, or go along such lines, because else there would be little excuses for one brig being able to take out entire fleets. I don't think it's worth giving much thought myself because AC has always had it's unrealistic elements.

Well, It's just a large reinforced ship with way too OP firepower. I mean, when you can destroy a legendary man o' war with an oversized brig, you know somethings wrong.
