Especially GPU and Driver version.
I would make sure drivers are up to date, as that can easily cause visual issues, or video related problems.
GTX 660 Driver 335.23 (Geforce Experience says it's up to date)
Windows 8
8 GB RAM
1920x1080 monitor
I would suggest either 334 WHQL or 337 BETA.
Do not let GeForce Experience or NVIDIA Tray Updater auto download newer drivers, just set it to notify u about them instead. Newest isn't always the best one.

They got pretty lazy then... Damn..
We tested 335 WHQL when it released and were using AC4 as one of the testing games. It had issues in regards to Ambient Occlusion and PhysX, but again this was when testing NVIDIA 400 and 500 series GPUs. These issues were not there on these systems/GPUs when using 334 WHQL and they went away once we were able to test 337 BETA. So again, might just not affect 600/700 GPUs.
