Is this a bad port?
So I want to get this game but I'm not sure if I should buy it for the PC or for my PS4 because I've heard this is a bad port what do you guys think?

If u already own a console, then perhaps rent the game and give it try.
At least u CAN rent games on consoles. Where as a PC purchase, u'll be stuck with.
However the PC version does allow for much richer visual quality, as well as PhysX.

The console versions of AC4 are locked @ 30 FPS.
PC version is capped @ 63 FPS w/ VSync off. 30 FPS w/ VSync on.

I can run it well beyond 60, but it WILL NOT let u.

I am just glad they did not fully lock it to 30 FPS, like was done for game like LA Noire.

If the AC4 cap wasn't there, I could easily run around 70 - 100 FPS, depending on the weather and other elements. As there are many times where my OSD from Afterburner is sitting there at a contant 62.5 (not sure why it's not just 60 flat, but whatever) and even though it says 62.5 FPS, I can feel the gameplay get smoother in certain areas, which is clearly going well above what the OSD is telling me.

AC4 tends to be sluggish right from startup simply because VSync is enabled by default, disable that and overall it will smooth out. Then tweak the other settings. U can even apply settings when in-game, no restarting, so if the FPS dips too low, lower a few things to allow for smoother gameplay if needed.

Avoid cranking up the AA, Shadows, PhysX, as these will drastically effect your FPS.

I apologize for my English.

How can u say that, have u seen side by side comparisons? It looks the same on PS4 and WiiU. That should tell u right there. Even a GTX 660 can have the game running smoother and looking better than a console.

There you go.
However, it doesn't look like the guy maxed out the PC version. I'm playing with a GTX 770 4GB and it's maxed except for AA, and it looks better than that video while staying at 60+ fps. The doubled frame rate makes it feel much smoother in action sequences, and you can't see that in the video.

From the conclusion:
That said, there is a more affordable choice available that offers all the visual refinement of the PS4 version - and more. If you have a decent gaming rig, the PC version is the way to go from a software price/performance perspective. Black Flag is available on PC for around £35 online, while you'll be looking at no less than £48 for the PS4 and Xbox One releases - a tidy saving of £13. Factoring in the ability to achieve a similar level of image quality to the PS4 game while running at double the frame-rate without needing Titan-level hardware, it's clear that PC's stranglehold on the top-end multi-platform experience isn't going to change any time soon.

I have a PS4, Assassin's Creed' is build for PlayStation so I bought it on PS4. In my opinion It is better on PS4 beacuse you get excluse content and early content.

Like what content for example?
Name one thing u get by having it on there that is not offered in the PC version of Digital Deluxe/Gold Edition?

^ I was going to ask that, but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to understand the response...

By the way:
http://blog.ubi.com/assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-pc-optimization/
According to Ubisoft, the PS4 version was built using lessons learned in optimizing the PC version. It wasn't "built for Playstation 4," it was built on a PC and optimized on PC then ported to those consoles.

Consoles any time if possible, because I had saving issues with Black Flag, and some performance issues.

i have a gtx 780 and core i7, it runs at around 45 fps on land and 60 fps at sea on max settings. and yet, someone it "feels" way worse then 45, and i think its because it jumps between 45 and 60 super fast. though, i get this because i'm forcing vsync in the nvidia control panel and using d3doverrider for tripple buffering. with vysnc off its > 60 all the time but the screen tearing bugs me

i should really get a 120hz monitor. that helps with that right?
Jim655321 Apr 12, 2014 @ 9:39pm
No, it wouldn't. Because the monitor refreshes more quickly, there is less chance of tearing. There's math involved, and I'm not going to get into it. But yeah, less tearing with a faster refresh, even if you aren't in sync with the max refresh.

If you like your save files get it on Plebstation. I just had 10 hours of my life erased by this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Runs really well for me. Although I DON'T like the black borders @ 16:10 settings.
