Serious Lag Near Naval Forts
Hopefully a thread about this hasn't already been started but I did look back a few pages. Anyway, as the thread title states, I'm having rubber-banding style lag near the forts but nowhere else. My graphics are currently set to normal for the most part, with anti-aliasing and vsync turned off. Before those were turned down, I'd been having some slow-motion style lag.

This lag near the forts, even if I'm just trying to get past them to do something else, makes things impossible because it'll show me sailing past smoothly before the screen jerks and I'm back within range and being blown up. I start lagging the second I'm close enough for the red markers to appear above it.

Because I'm not overly familiar with what it's supposed to look like, I thought maybe it was screen tearing, but turning vsync back on did nothing to help the jerky movements and made other movements sluggish again.

What's really strange about this lag though, is the first couple of forts I fought, I didn't have this issue. It's only been since the most recent patch. I thought those patches were just for dlc I don't have yet, so I didn't think anything new would happen in my game. :/

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried abselutely lowest settings and see if that helps?
Then try turning stuff up, and see what causes this.

I did drop to lowest settings but it didn't make a difference.

My PC is Windows 8 64-bit, video card is AMD Radeon HD 7570, and drivers....um, I guess they're the most up to date ones. Family that knows a bit more about computers bought this computer for me specifically so I could play AC, so I hope it's up to par for it.

I haven't tried verifying the game cache yet, since I hadn't thought of that, but I'll give it a go. It just seems weird that it all of a sudden started giving me these troubles. I'm almost 40% game completion and it just started with this nonsense.

As to being offline, I did try out that companion app but abandoned it for being more trouble then it was worth. Do you think it might still be connected though? I never did get around to uninstalling it from my tablet.

Alright, well, I guess I'll get the driver, drop the graphics down to low again and hope for the best.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/242050/discussions/0/540744934667997662/ - I don't know if this is the same issue, since it's not the easiest to describe, but it seems pretty similar otherwise. Unfortunately, I've found no solution to this. Basically, I can't approach Naval Forts in this game at all.
