Same. Tried all the fixes that were posted about from about 2 years ago but seems Ubisoft doesn't GAF. If you find a fix, lemme know. I'll do the same if what I try tomorrow works.

I've finally made it out of Havana, and I'll admit there's less bugs, crashes, freezes, etc once I'm on the open seas. Still run into them after a time, but far less often. That's all I got, hope it helps a little.

I may be missing something but unless you're asking for my PC specs, I run everything in the game at max in the graphics options since my computer can handle that with every game I play no problem. Also, as far as I've seen there is no 'preset' options for graphics. This is what I chose:

Resolution - 2560x1440 60Hz
Environment Quality - very high
Anti-Aliasing Quality - FXAA (Its more stable than any of the other options I've found)
Shadow Quality - very high (soft shadows dropped frames by 10, so I don't use them)
Reflection Quality - high
Motion Blur - Off
Ambient Occlusion - SSAO (like anti-aliasing, I've found this option is more stable)
God Rays - on
Volumetric Fog - on
vsync - on
PhysX Particles - high

Lastly, bee sailing around and taking out ships for hours and thankfully haven't run into any crashes during this time. Had one bug that was very weird when I was boarding a ship and I pressed E as my guy was letting go of the wheel. Difficult to explain but just don't press E once you've given the order to board. Hope all this helps.

I see indeed its odd, im using the same preset with 3440x1440 and didnt had any freeze yet @_@. Stupid question but are you using ultra wide fix ?

Not a stupid question. That's a fix I haven't heard of yet. What's the "Ultra Wide" fix? I have a Super Ultra Wide 49" Samsung Odyssey monitor. I have it split into two separate 'screens' though so the game is not running in the ungodly-wide format. Don't know if that means anything in regards to the issue though. Also, I use the 2560x1440 resolution only because when I was in Havana it crashed more quickly/often with the higher res.

Sorry, this doesn't really help you, but I have just done Havana this afternoon, collected everything including all 6 assassin missions and not a single lock up.

But I am a 1080P gamer - maybe that is why I don't have the issues.

Certainly possible. I did run the game briefly at potato settings (all low) but left my resolution at 2560x1440 and still got a crash in Havana during a fight. If I was still there I'd try to max my settings like usual but with 1080 res, but out sailing the seas now so oh well. Glad you got the game running well for yourself though.

That's unfortunate. What's your setting and your rig like? Highly recommend dropping the anti-aliasing and ambient occlusion down for a start. It'll probably still crash, though hopefully not so often.

Old Threat but hopefully not a dead threat. Decided to redownload Black flag again so i can experience what a good assassins creed feels like again.

Since hitting Havana I've also been freezing like crazy (to the point of having to hard reset my pc). I've noticed most of the problems about freezing today is from people running the game in a higher res then 1080p and 60hz. I tried running the game at 1080p60 and everything has been fine so far.

Id assume the game doesn't like it that we exceed its RES and HZ that it was made for since the highest i can set most Hz in game is 60.

Specs:

ROG Strix RTX 3080 10GB
Ryzen 7 5700X
32GB corsair vengeance
2TB Samsung evo pro Nvme

Hope this helps someone in the future! Happy gaming!
