But there's also another solution for those old games to patch those to be able to run 4GB's memory[ntcore.com] instead of the older x86 2GB's limit one. I've done so to my Supreme Commander to make it more stable and also for it to not start tilting so much when reaching that game's max limit amount during Skirmish matches.
It is customary even requested on most all game or tech sites to post your system specs. Many people and or sites will not bother or try and help you at all with out. They can easy look see what you are working with and assess the prob and try to help. For all we know you could be trying to play pc games on a 20 year old cell phone or Windows 98 toaster.
Might sound stupid. Sometimes people have been running other games and or lots of them- then a game will not work or right. Normally a restart of the system will fix it- or power off the system- let it sit 30 secs to 1 minute then restart it- I like after restart to not touch my system for about 1 minute and let all drivers etc load - some start up stuff also checks the net for updates- if go messing with pc to fast after start up can jam it all up or it can run slow- even the said newest and most powerful and fastest systems can suffer- after restart try your game. Its like maybe drivers or something in the system or os gets confused. Only really old games that are dx8-9 should you maybe have to set some other compatibility mode- and then most of them are 2d games.
Also its just fact some real old games arcade type games will not work at all unless you buy some add on box.
Also is times security and or firewall can be blocking a game or part of its install or drivers or needs an older DX version installed- you might not have seen the pop up. Windows will auto install the drivers etc but needs your permissions to do so- calls its self trying to protect your system.
The only probs I normally have with some Ubi games is when first install run them the game acts up or might even crash if try to change the resolution or to full screen- examples- Division 1 and Far Cry Primal. Some can argue and hate Ubi Connect drm- I have no probs with it or EA stuff- other than the extra step and or log in hassles.
You can find the key after install the game. From the Steam Library- Right Click the game- then click Manage- then CD Keys. I had to manually type in the key- copy paste did not work. After you put in the key it might ask you to enter your Ubisoft Password. The game starts as it should after that. Many games have keys- might ask or not- but this is how you find them if not displayed- for Ubi or any other.

"run as Win 95" makes no logical sense, but it worked for me.
(and this is an older game that beats the pants!)
