Terrible Physx performance. Any fix?
I'm running the game at 4K and get a steady 60 Fps until I enable Physx High. The FPS drop around areas with Physx will be a drop of 40 to 30 Fps with stutter. I have the latest driver for my GPU.

My specs:
Intel i7 8700K @ 5.2 GHz
GTX 1080 Ti
16 GB DDR4 @ 4200MHz
Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1803 (OS Build 17134.228)

PhysX has always been a hit and miss. The PhysX driver worked fine when a game was new, till the next update broke it in favor of a newer game. There's a reason that even NVIDIA itself has stopped bothering with this tech specifically and 'infused' it into a bundle of other of its techs.

My suggestion to your problem? Try to find that driver version released back in 2013, or simply forget about it.

Try to use D3DOverrider, and disable PhysX and V-sync. The performance should be enhanced

Had exactly the same issue with exactly the same rig. Gave up and turned off physx.

I could play AC4 with a GTX 750ti AT 60 fps solid all maxed out apart from PhysicsX. Since I jumped up to a 1060 I am having issues with this game and others like Skyrim special edition with stutter when my 750ti could handle all buttery smooth and Nvidia seem to be doing nothing about it.
Is Pascal as good as it says on the tin? going to look for an alternative card. Any recommendations? ...9 series maybe?

It's a terrible implementation of physx in this game. Low or off is pretty much the only thing that works. And d3doverrider doesn't work on windows 10. Just a heads up. If you get frame drops try the fixes in the description of the video below.

Completely disabling PhysX Particles enabled me to enjoy the game without any stuttering.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
