Accidentally deleted save games
So the game launch sequence has a bunch of intros and menu options that let you skip some by pressing Enter and others by pressing Space. My muscle memory after starting was always to mash the both keys to jump into the game fastest. And hereI sit and wonder today - who was the doofus who decided to put "delete save game" functionality and "yes" functionality on space and Enter respectively? My experience from today - deleted 48% progress savegame in a record breaking time of 4 seconds since game start. WTF?

Luckily there is hope!!! Turns out that another brilliant person thought about that and the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\ contains a file named x.save.deleted which contains a backup of your saved game in case if you deleted it. Just overwrote the active one with .deleted and had my game back.

Hope this helps someone.

Wow you just saved my ass. It works. The file was 3.save.delete. I just saved it to 1.save and restarted and it was back. Thanks. I agree its stupid of them to do that. Mine was at 56%.
omg thank you so much

Meanwhile no cloud saves.... I lost my save because i reformatted my hdd a while back. I love this game, but I'm tired of playing the opening couple missions and wish I could skip them.

Hey Corvin One

Thank you for sharing the workaround you found to recover your deleted save!
Glad to see this worked for you and for a few others as well :)

Although, we do advise caution when editing any game files, as this might alter your overall game in unexpected ways.

Raging Panda I've noted your feedback on the cloud saves, and have passed this forward. I do apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you.

Thank you very much for considering my, and others, input. It's an old game, but it's one I think many go back to. Definitely worth implementing Cloud saves.

Hi Elvicio! I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered the same issue. As Ubi-Pegasus mentioned, we advise caution when editing any game files, as this might alter your overall game in unexpected ways. To restore your saved game, you can follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the folder where the game saves are stored, usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\.

2. Locate the file with the .delete extension (e.g., x.save.delete).

3. Rename the file by removing the .delete part (e.g., change x.save.delete to x.save).

4. Launch the game and check if your saved game has been restored.

Also, it’s a good idea to always have a backup of the original x.save.delete file.
