Lag Problem
My Laptop specs:

Processor: Intel core i5 4200U (4th gen)
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GT 740M 2GB

I don't know why ac4 is lagging on my pc at medium settings. I have played much better games (in terms of graphics) than this and they run very well in medium to high settings but this game is lagging even after turning some settings to low. Any solution please?

Different games require different graphical setting. Assassins creed black flag was recently released for the PS4 and Xbox 1. This means that there game has gained a quality upgrade. So you will need a more substantial graphics card like a gtx 1070 so that you can cope with the game on the highest graphics at 30 to 60 fps

It's not just about the graphics. It's about how many things that are on screen at 1 perticular time

For example the particular effects and how many Npcs are on the screen

I understand that but I feel AC3 was almost similar in terms of NPCs, environment and I don't know why but I feel AC3 had better graphics than AC4. I have played AC3 on medium to high settings. Even AC3's graphics at low setting is better than AC4's graphics at high settings.

Found a solution yet? If not...
Try to run the game using your GPU. Something like right clicking .exe file and run with high-end processor, I wouldn't know because I don't use one gpu.

You said you have GT 740m. Well, I have 2x GT 775m and using SLI.
I can tell you right now that using only one of my video card will result in very low FPS.
But I'm currently facing an issue where ingame FPS is fine but when I'm in menu (Start Menu, Pause Menu, etc) and occasionally in cutscenes, everything stutters.

I am running this game using my nvidia card only. I have turned off the the vertical sync and turned on the triple buffering from nvidia control panel and this helped me to lower the lag to great extent. You can try this too. If you see adaptive option in vertical sync then select that otherwise turned it off.

Funny enough, few minutes after I posted my reply I managed to find my solution.
See my problem was a stutter every after 4-5 seconds then recovers back to a smooth 60 FPS.

Here's the fix for anyone else that may be viewing this:
1. Start the game
2. Open Task Manager
3. Go to details
4. Right click AC4BFSP.exe
5. Set Affinity
6. Uncheck the last CPU

Thanks a lot, this actually fixed it for me. i have a more than capable PC to run this game with 4 gb Vram and 16 gb Ram. For some reason it started lagging out of nowhere because it was running really smooth in maxed graphics, but this was my fix so thank you.
