FIX: FOR UPLAY NOT WORKING / The procedure entry point ‘name’ could not be located in the dynamic link library

Listen up gents, I've been trying to get my game to work for about 300 years now and after Multiple installs of the game and a massive waste of my time and internet I've found how to fix most of the issues. if not all without re-downloading the whole game and its easy.


1. go through your computer and purge ubisoft AKA Uplay from your computer.
this is an important detail as when i used the uninstaller it wasn't removing all the files for uplay. you have to manually find the folder and delete all of it then restart your computer.

"YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY DELETE UPLAY"

2. download the most recent version of uplay because god knows why they have given us all a seriously outdated version. it doesn't even look similar

3. run uplay separately and make sure its fully updated to the most recent version (which it does automagically)

4. run the game it should work like fine if you have problems message me.

Uplay is Ubisofts DRM system, and may be updated multiple times a year. When you DL AC4BF from Steam it will try to install an outdated version of the Uplay app on C drive. You will need to update or uninstall/reinstall to the latest version of Uplay app from Ubisoft.

If you already have Uplay on your PC, I would recommend making a backup copy to reinstall after game DL, as it may contain game saves for other Ubi games you own. If you were not able to backup before DL, you can try the normal uninstall and your other game saves should return after new version is applied (worked for me as the AC4 DL corrupted my Uplay) . [ Edit- I was on W8.1, W10 could have different results]

Then you will need to log into Uplay with an account and register your Steam game key. While you are logged into Uplay, you can set your account to work offline if you want. You must be online for the first time you launch the game, it will check into Uplay to authorize the key. Any additional launches’ in offline mode may cause the game to hang for a minute or so (searching for connection in background).

Game save file is located within your Uplay app, no cloud save. A few players have reported corrupted saves, so you may want to do some manual backups as you go.

if i was you id google uplay most recent version and use that.

i've literally had this problem for the past 9 months and tried fixing it but just nothing online helped... don't know how deleting and re installing uplay fixes it but hey i'm not arguing just happy to be able to play my ubisoft games again

I actually arrived to this forum from Origin. Facing the same issue, talked to EA agents from Origin. They suggested to download and install the dll file, reboot, reinstall, redownload, you name it, been wasting a lot of time, nothing work, until I saw this. Finally, it solved. Thank you so much for sharing.
