Run Uplay, click "account information" under your name in the right upper corner.
Click "my games" in the page that opens up.
He can't buy the game and lend it to you unless it is as a Steam gift where he buys it as a gift to send to you, codes won't work since he's already redeemed his game so therefore that game is already his and you won't be able to get the game unless he gifts you it or you buy it yourself.
It isn't that hard to family share either, so you have 3 options here.
It's all about profit, so you buy the game or you do not.

In future if you can't see a recent thread on the issue you're experiencing please create a new one. This thread was last commented on a few years ago.
