But to prove my point, I have to kill a titan with a different spell (Glaciate might work, if not, not entirely sure if there are any other good spells that can deal real damage, damage high enough to at least finish a titan)
Anyways, I am not planning letting my weak hero anywhere near titans.
What I observed :
A) Kill x Banshees, used Armageddon - quest counter still "0 of 3", after killing like 5 of them.
B) Destroy Level 3 Gold Mine, used Armageddon - still "0 of 1".
As said, I have to try different spells. With Pyromancer, I can try Sunfall, if played well (maybe not Titan, but any "kill" quests might do)
Will report as soon I collected more data.
Anyways, if it is really only "hero direct hits counts only", then it feels like mage-discrimination.
Only 2 spells seem to not trigger kill count:
- Fireball
- Armageddon
But with other spells, I was able to trigger needed kill count. (i.e. Sunfall)
Testing against Titans - that would require much higher finesse. (The first Titan I killed with this hero... and survived, was more luck, than skill. Let's see if such luck scenario will repeat itself. Especially if Sunfall will be enough to finish that Titan off)
So I tested if Titan-kill-count works when my units do the dirty job. With Summoner I hunted down 3 Titans, and got all three accounted for.
Which puts spell casters (at least Pyromancer) into a bad light from titles perspective.
Warriors and leaders / summoners can get titan kills accounted, fire spells hurling mages don't.

I still am happy, that Armageddon has no friendly fire, so I can use it in my own base. And on higher levels is pretty powerful and can be launched nearly anywhere on the map, ignoring any kind of spell range limits.
Fireball is restricted by spell range, but still does a great job on what one expects it to do.
So not getting kills, nor XP - probably might be still worth it.
Question is, if this (no XP, no kill count) is intended or just a random bug.
Oh, found this in 0.9.1 fixes change log:
Fixed bug where Fireball wouldn’t award kills for the caster
Ok, I get it now :D
