FFX has the same problem, though you could fix that in the ini file.

The reason why it's such a big deal to have Japanese voices available to us is simply because most of the Seiyu (voice actors) in Japan work with management companies. Most of the time their contracts just say "Japan" and they are getting paid for that. It's cheaper for the publisher to do that rather than paying for the rights worldwide.

Japanese Voice Actors management companies are not joking when it comes to that. These companies are very powerful over there and they won't let you use the work of "their actors" if you didn't pay for it.

At the end of the day it's just copyrights issues.

I don't know if that's the problem here but that's the case most of the time.

In the Steam app, can you Manage, Properties, General, and set the Language? (If you want a mix of one voice language, but a different subtitles language or menus language, you might not be able to get the exact mix you want. I dunno.)

Games often don't install the assets for all of the languages because it increases download and installation size.

I imagine, it's as the post above explained, whenever a game is limited in some way it's usually due to legal requirements in different countries.

Why Japanese voiceovers only in Japan?
Just curiosity (I don't speak Japanese); but I've seen this done in other games. Why are Japanese VO only sold for customers in Japan?

Shortsighted response.

You're paying for what's licensed. You want them to license more, you pay more.

I dont quite, understand: What did you mean by FFX? ..and is there a way to edit the profile.dat or something to get them in? I mean they probably would need to be downloaded, so I think probably not?

frankly speaking, I wouldnt mind paying for jp voices instead of all the others, why not instead of regions make the base game cheaper and have ppl choose what languages they want voiced.

Keep in mind that customers in Japan *only* have English and Japanese, none of the other languages. So we're not getting the full range of options, either.

"Notice: This game supports only Japanese or English language interface/voice for customers in Japan."

Is there a way to mod the japanese voices?

FFX = Final Fantasy 10.

Pretty impressive game if you never played it before... though be warned FFX-2 is basically charley's angels (the movies.... not the series) But for PS2 games, they're very good.

I would say the easiest way to get jp voices is what I did with CotM:

get the PS ver with a JP Account. At least with CotM you need to set your PS5 to japanese as it uses the system language apparently, and the interface is japanese too, but this sadly only works if you understand enough japanese as you dont have english text

I don't own a PS5.
