I have an "Intel i7-3930".
CPU-World writes: "The CPU includes NO AVX2, F16C and FMA3 instructions"!
It's over 10 years old, but I've never had any problems with it!!!
The first part of Horizon also went great!
I'll probably have to give the game back!

You should be careful when giving people advise and you are not to say what they should do as you may not have knowledge about people circumstances, preferences, and IT domain as well.

I have too gaming rigs. One based on Dell Precision 3610 with GTX1650 on board that can run most of the modern titles in 1080p60.
And the other one - self made huge CoolerMaster tower with Intel DX79SI, Xeon E5 2660, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD (let alone 7TB on a few HDD and BR-DVD recorder) that I bought on TradeMe for US$200 three years ago, and it came with Server2016 license. This rig is still full of life.
I would prefer to invest my money into GPU, NVMe drive, WiFi/BT adapter and so on rather then paying for new system that does not really give me advantage in games.
I added RTX3080, 1 TB NVMe on a raiser card, AX200 wireless card a couple of years ago, and recently upgraded the CPU to Xeon E5 2697 (US$15) that works on par with low-tier last gen Intel CPUs.
I can run most of the modern titles in 4K60 most of the time with DLSS Balanced ON on Ultra settings.

Why SHOULD I have a modern processor then? Just because Sony is lazy to port their titles so most people can launch them without issues. Or because some vendors celebrate paradigm of Planned obsolescence? I personally better off DO NOT BUY that titles and DO NOT SUPPORT these vendors.

I would rather buy a treat/gift for my wife/kids what I really do. Or, gaming wise, invest my IT budget leftovers in something more tangible, like Fanatec CSL DD Bundle I ordered instead of rebuilding my gaming rig.

I am a mature IT professional, so I am not obsessed with all the new toys. There are lots of more valuable things in life to enjoy. And if Sony does not care about older (and often smarter) gamers and do not want them to play Sony's games on older rigs, let is be so.

I would rather create less waste on our Earth by postponing another upgrade.

I am upgrading my PC for 27 years... The longest with me part was... Case! About 15 years! It was some cheap no name case. But when I upgraded CPU, and Cooler (Scythe Mugen Max) was about 2cm to high to fit inside, I've finally changed Case to branded one, Fractal Design R5.

Regarding CPU, before I've changed to Ryzen I had ancient (I don't know for how many years...) i5 3570k, before it I had don't remember what, but the same motherboard... But when I had problems to run AC Origin (because of additional Ubi$hit DRM, so needed more than 4 threats...) I finally needed to change CPU! I didn't want as I needed to change all- motherboard, RAM (from DDR3 to DDR4) and CPU! Sure I wanted to invest in new GPU only!!! But CPU was really bottleneck!

Same with software! I LOVED Windows XP, but there was one day need to change to new Windows.

Conclusion. If you wish to play modern games, you need to have also modern hardware AND software.

P.S. I am not IT professional, but have been dealing with computers for 38 years, starting with ZX Spectrum and Atari, and I have some post graduate IT diploma...

Unfortunately you can't reason with some people.

The minimum supported CPU is something that came out in 2017 but the CPU's that have the required instruction sets (AVX and F16C) came out in 2012.

Yet they says it's a bad port because it doesn't work on their 12+ year old CPU despite ignoring the stated minimum required CPU on the store page.

I swear some people just have a victim complex.

i7-3930K (6C/12T) supports AMD64, EM64T, AES, MMX, AVX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1 SSE4.2, SSSE3

So it supports AVX, simply not AVX2, F16C, FMA3

I also still have an i7-3930K System, still works great and the CPU can easily be OCed like hell.

If anyone has a problem with instructions F16C, then download GamePatchHub upload the patch in it, and there will be no problems. The functionality of the patch has already been discussed in this thread.

bad behavior for the planet ! dont waste working AND capeable hardware.
