Unlike the first game, there are diminishing returns effective after 16 joined ponds.
Personally, I'm against it. My "ponds" tend to be maxed out , always have been
In the first game I had a few separate ponds one for each type of fish that mixed with each other. Now they still mix but with only 16 tiles before the penalty it is not something to go for in this game.
At least they got rid of the % for fish so if you got 15 tiles you will get 15 fish, so no need to inflate your ponds to overcome the RNG for finishing quests.
As for ponds I would say 4 types of fish together would be nice to have with a 15 tiles per fish, which would end up with 60 tiles per pond before the penalty kicks in.
If they don't want people to fish thousands of fish with a single click, I think the system in FT1 (that allows you to only fish 15 ponds per click) is a better way of dealing with this.
Personally I like optimizing things and although I realize fishing thousands of fish with a single click may be too easy, I'd like it.
Correct, and it is shown in a popup when you first start purchasing fish ponds.
Since this thread was bumped I'll take the opportunity to shamelessly plug My Steam Guide which has updated and detailed information about the fishing pond changes and mechanics.
