they are just lazy and surfing on the "hype and demand" from the loud minority who discovered metal gear serie with MGS 3.
MGS 1 deserves a remake first, not MGS 3.

MGS3 is chronologically the first game. Don't be surprised when they remake the rest.

This was my thoughts exactly. I figured that they'd just start with 3 and possibly go chronologically forward.

prefer remakes to remasters to be honest

remasters just texture upgrade remakes got a lot more detail and in a perfect world better story telling not that it needed it

MGS2 is a simulation that didnt happen canonicaly

Raiden's mission was designed as a simulation of Shadow Moses but it did actually happen and has repercussions in MGS4
