Rogue Legacy Classes and Traits
I just finished my 5th time through the game, collected and purchased every rune, blueprint, and skill. I've figured out some stragegies that have worked well with me so I figured I would write down some pointers for anyone who is interested. I played using a wired XBOX 360 controller so this guide will reflect that.
First piece of advice would be to go into options and turn on the ability to press down to down attack and to pass through ledges. It save time, can save your skin since its faster, and its much more convienant. Second, change the resolution to your monitor default and fullscreen.

CLASSES:

BASE CLASSES: Barbarian, Knave, Knight, Mage

Knight: 100% HP, MP, STR, and INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Dagger, Scythe, Spike Balls

Paladin: Upgraded Knight, can use shield(Press Y) to block attacks, every blocked attack cost 25 MP, can press DOWN+Y to turn into a statue that is mostly invulnerable that cost 15 MP at first then 4 every second after.

Barbarian: 150% HP, 50% MP, 75% STR 100% INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Dagger, Scythe

Barbarian King/Queen: Upgraded Barbarian, Can Shout for 20 MP that destroys nearby breakables and projectiles.

Knave: 75% HP, 65% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT
Spells: Axe, Chakram, Dagger, Scythe, Teleport
Special Traits:+15% Critical Hit Chance, +125% Critical Hit Damage

Assassin: Upgraded Knave, Can turn into Mist for 5 MP then 14 MP per second it ends if your attack but you can cast spells without ending it.

Mage: 50% HP, 150% MP, 50%STR, 125% INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Dagger, Flame Barrier, Scythe, Spike Balls, Time Stop(Unique to Mage).
Special Traits: Magic Siphon; for every kill you get 6 MP, stacks with runes and armor

Archmage: Upgraded Mage, Has 3 spells can cycle through them by pressing Y. Though you can only see the first spell when selecting the Archmage. If you pick up a new spell at a spell alter it will change all three spells.

Shinobi: 60% HP, 40% MP, 175% STR, 100% INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Dagger, Scythe, Spike Balls
Special Traits: 30% Haste, No Critical Hits

Hokage: Upgraded Shinobi, can use Replacement Technique for 5 MP that makes you disappear and teleport forward. You can pass through projectiles and enemies.

Lich: 35% HP (up to 100%), 50% MP, 75% STR, 150% INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Crow Storm(Unique to Lich), Dagger, Flame Barrier, Scythe, Spike Balls
Special Traits: Kills increase Max HP by 4 until at 100%, also increase current HP by 4 until max HP is achieved.

Lich King/Queen: Upgraded Lich, can use Conversion by pressing Y which halves current max HP and add it to max MP(up to 200% MP)

Spellthief: 75% HP, 40% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT
Spells: Axe, Blade Wall, Chakram, Dagger, Flame Barrier, Scythe, Spike Balls
Special Traits: 30% Damage inflicted converts to mana, also works with Retribution Armor and Runes which is very handy for keeping MP filled.

Spellsword: Upgraded Spellthief, can Empower Spells which doubles MP cost and the size and damage inflicted by all spells.

Miner: 50% HP, 50% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT
Spells: Axe, Chakram, Dagger, Scythe
Special Traits: +30% Gold from all coins, bags, and gems

Spelunker/Spelunkette: Upgraded Miner, can use headlamp for 1 MP per second to light up dark areas(The Dungeon)
Special Traits: All Chests and Special Rooms are highlighted on map

Dragon: 40% HP, 25% MP, 100% STR, 100% INT
Spells: Dragon Fire
Special Traits: Regenerates MP at 6 MP per second, Cannot Jump, Can Fly, STR is useless to Dragons, all thier attack damage is calculated from INT so its best to put on a sword with an ability(Vampirism, Siphon, Retribution, Gold Gain). Because they can fly thier excellent at getting Fairy Chests. If you have a Dragon Dwarf then most Fairy Chests are easy to get.

Classes Ranked by usefulness based on my experience:
1. Barbarian King/Queen
2. Assassin
3. Spellsword
4. Paladin
5. Lich King/Queen
6. Dragon
7. Archmage
8. Hokage
9. Spelunker/Spelunkette

Those are the classes.

Barbarians I've found are the most useful because they survive the longest and farther into the game thier shout is excellent for clearing the projectiles off the screen. With every skill upgrade purchased the Barbarian should have around 1500 HP 500 MP 175 STR and 230 INT by end game.

Assassins are great for killing the Bosses and Mini Bosses. Thier Mist form is great for skipping rooms with many enemies when you need health or are searching for bosses or loot. If you get the Teleport Spell(looks like a little ghost) then getting through spike rooms with a chest at the end are a bit easier.

Spellswords are the most powerful spellcasters with thier Empower Spell. With thier 30% Damage Inflicted to MP thier easy t keep full on MP. Couple that with Retribution Armor and/or Runes then that damage also convert 30% to your MP. So with full Retribution or Slayer Armor and all Retribution Runes you can return 500% damage to enemies and get 30% of that back to your MP. So its basically impossible to run out of MP. Empowered Flame Barrier will take down every boss very easily. The other spells I prefer with Spellswords are Scythe, Axe, and Chakram in that order.

Paladins are mostly handy because they have 100% stats. If you want to know what your stats are at any time pick the Paladin. Thier Shield is ok but I usually forget to use and its 25 MP per hit absorbed so its costly. Turning into a statue is cool and very useful, but again I usually forget about in the middle of a fight. Also I don't think the statue works on the Bosses.

Lich King/Queen is a really cool class because of its potential. They can have up to 100% HP and up to 200% MP and thier INT is the highest in the game. They have Crow Storm spell which is very cool and great for getting certain Fairy Chest Rooms cleared of enemies but its really expensive. While thier max potential is great, I usually end up ggetting them killed od pretty quickly because I play quickly. However if you like to take your time with each room then they may be great for you. Siphone Armor and Runes are very good to have for these guys.

The Dragon I really like but they seem a bit on the weak side to me. Thier the best at getting to Fairy Chests, espically if your a Dragon with Dwarfism. Thier only attack uses MP and while you can spam attack you end up wasting MP if you do because the enemy gets a small amount of invulnerable time after each attack, I think its like 1 to 1.5 seconds. MP recovery isn't a issue because they regenerate MP at 6 per second. Only equip Swords with abilities since STR isn't used for Dragons. I go with Retribution(or Slayer if you have it), Gold Gain, Holy Sword(for Siphon), Blood Sword(for Vampirism) in that order.

Archmages are alright. They have the highest starting MP, but thier STR and INT are both lower than the Lich (Which can also get to 200% Max MP), Archmages have a handy 3 spell selection to choose from even though when selecting them you can only see one of them and every kill gives you 6 MP which also stacks with Armor and Runes. I try not to pick Archmages unless my other choice are Spelunkers or people suffering from Vertigo.

Hokage are great early on, but around level 50-75 thier usefulness really starts to taper off. While it is nice to go zooming around the map really fast, especially if you have ADHD and Haste Runes thier the fastest class in game, generally the faster you go the faster you die. Thier STR bonus is the highest in game which is cool but after upgrads at the castle the Assassin has a much higher damage output and the Barbarian King/Queen last so much longer that Hokage's usefullness dies out.

Spelunker/Spelunkette's are the ones I use the very least. The extra gold gain is nice but rendered moot when you have Gold Gain from Armor and Runes AND every time you clear the game you get a +50% Gold Gain. So the only real reason to pick them is to find Boss and Mini Boss Rooms. The Lamp they get really does make it much lighter in the dungeon but thier so weak and squishy that they don't really last long there anyways.

Traits:

PREFERRED TRAITS;

ADHD: +30 Haste
Dwarfism: Your Tiny
E.D.S: You can turn when you swing you sword
Eid. Mem. : Chests, Enemies, and Special Rooms are always displayed on any room you visit, even if you only go in and out quickly.
Endomorph: You cannot be knkocked back, your also larger
Gigantism: Your huge, you have a huge sword, go kill stuff, best paired with Endomorph or Hypergonadism
Hypergonadism: You knockback enemies much farther
O.C.D. : Break stuff get 1 MP, great with Barbarian Shout
P.A.D : Spike Traps do not activate, a very useful and cool ability
Savant: Random Spell every cast

NOT PREFERRED TRAITS;

Alektorophobia: All Chickens are alive and can hurt you, you must kill them to get HP
Alzheimers: Map doesn't work, Mini-Map does work(Map does work when using Teleporters)
Ambilevous: Shoot spells out of your back
Baldness: No feather in hat, says Balding in loading screen
C.I.P. : Life bar is not shown, but you still lose life and die
Color Blind: Black and White Game
Coprolalia: You curse when hit and when you die
Dementia: Hallucinate Enemies
Dextrocardia: HP and MP Swapped
Dyslexia: All Text is Jumbled
Ectomorph: Skinny, hit send you flying
Near- Sighted: duh...
Far-Sighted: duh...
Gay: Changes which statue give you HP/MP Potions
Hypocondriac: You exaggerate, count only first 2 numbers to figure out how much damage you take when hit
I.B.S. : You Fart
Muscle Wk. : Can't knockback enemies
Nostalgic: Sephia Tone Game
Stereo Blind: You and Enemies flip when turning, enemies sometimes disappear behind objects
Tunnel Vision: Projectile Indicators Not Displayed
Vertigo: Everything is upside down, Good Luck! :)

While I play I've found that the best runes to use are Grace and Retribution. The weaker the enemies the longer you last to explore and collect and kill more. Retribution Runes are espically useful with the Spellswords because of thier 30% Damage to MP for every HIT, not only kills. Gold Gain Runes are also really nice if your on the first or second playthrough, after that you really ought to be using Grace and/or Retribution Runes.

In order to get all of the Blacksmith Blueprints you have to play through at least twice. You must kill every mini boss you come accross to get all of the blueprints. Winning the Clown games also will give you blueprints. Its possible, and quite easy, to get all the Runes or your first play through. After you have every rune then you start getting stat improvements from every fairy chest. Which are pretty great.

Slayer Armor is about the best in the game. Though I use Royal Armor Chestpiece instead of the Slayer one Because it has 50 more armor and I like lasting longer. Early in game the Blood Armor and Sword is kind of nice but once you get Knight or Guardian stuff you should be using that. The gold gain Sword and Armor is really tempting but its soo weak that because you last longer with other Armor and Swords you gold gain will actually be higher. I only use the Sage Sword(+10% Gold Gain) with the Dragon and thats it.

Some fun and useful Trait combinations:

Gigantism+Endomorph: Biggest guy in game, especially with Barbarian, has a huge sword, downside is thier also really easy to hit. I pick this combination whenever it comes up just for fun, even if its on a Spelunker/Spelunkette.

Gigantism+Coprolalia: Your huge and you curse huge too.

Gigantism+Hypergonadism: Your huge and you knock enemies far away which is a really good combination for staying alive since your so big and easy to hit.

P.A.D. + ADHD: Move along faster and avoid those annoying spike traps, outstanding if you manage to get Hermes Boots from Praying at the Shrine.

Hypergonadism+Endomorph: Huge Knockback to enemies and none to you, really great combination for Barbarians and Assassins though also great for Paladin, Spellsword, and Lich King/Queen as well.

Dextrocardia+O.C.D: Can be really interesting, if you get the Archmage(or even the Lich King/Queen) you'll have the highest health of all classes. Not really reccommended for the Spellsword though as they need a high health and the 1 MP for breaking stuff is pretty pointless for Spellswords.

Dwarfism+ADHD: Your tiny and move faster so your harder for enemies to hit, can avoid projectiles easier, can get to more chests. Great combination for Spellsword, Lich King/Queen, Dragon, and Archmage because both Gigantism and Dwarfism do not affect your spell size, so with a Spellsword for instance having Dwarfism and ADHD with Retribution Armor and Runes your harder to hit, but when you do get hit you return damage and get MP back from that damage done so having a tiny sword isn't as much of a problem.

Well I hope this helps. If I've gotten anything incorrect let me know. If there's anything you would like to add please let me know and I will do what I can.

While this a good guide, most of this info is on the wiki. You could have just linked to there and gotten right to the tips and strategies, saving the time of writing a lot of this out.
Just a friendly two cents.

how do you rate the hokage?

I don't see how Coprolalia is bad ;)

Hokage is a god if you have low/no crit chance/damage. After an extra 50% crit chance and an extra 125% crit damage from your Manor alone the hokage becomes pathetically useless (these stats can be achieved quite easily on your first playthrough). An assasin can have 85% crit chance, any other class can have 70%. On NG+ (and further) you pretty much have to crit or you might as well not swing your sword at all. Add in that Hokage gets absolutely no bonus whatsoever for crit stats, that Hokage is squishy, and that mist form is better then Hokages ability in every way and hokage gets outclassed by Assassin very quickly.

I understand that much of this information is available from other sources I found that much was also incomplete and/or left out, which I found annoying. Also by putting as much here as I though would be useful I figured people could more easily browse this rather than several other sites. This is also only on Steam Discussions. Thanks for the advice though Kruezfahrer Dak'ir.

I rated the Hokage, thanks for pointing out that I missed that class Lachyyyy.

While I did not say that Coprollalia was bad exactly its just not useful like others are. Though some of my funnier moments playing have definately been while playing with Coprolalia, its great fun with Gigantism for instance. Hope this clarifies things Coldface.
