PSA: Don't Unlock the Dragon Class.
As others have said, he is such a pitiful character. He is expensive, he has a horrible hp pool, and his main attack is like throwing cotton at a Humvee. However, the worst thing about him is him showing up in your potential kiddy pool. While it may seem like common-sense, it should still be said; if you don't unlock him, you won't have to suffer like the rest of us.

Oh come on, that's not true. He is great at grinding gold as he can wear all the +10% gold gear without losing damage output. He can also widdle down bosses easier by being able to stay further away. Now if you unlock him too early it might be a problem.

The range of his attack also seems pathetic. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I just suck with him. I can't even farm effectively with him.

He does not benefit from crit parameters, so just equip him with the best int-boosting equipment for high damage. I agree he's hard to play with though, pretty hard to hit those floating ghosts for instance before they hit you. I generally only use him for those hard to get Fairy chests, by locking the previous castle.

Yeah, I haven't completed my first playthrough and I unlocked him....mistake.

Depending on how far you are, you might want to start from the beginning. You should get to where you were before pretty fast, and choose your unlocks more carefully, as I did.

The dragon has been a great gold and chest mining character for me.

I almost had an opportunity to get a dagger unlock from a previously locked down castle. Imagine, a cheaper spell, that has longer range, on the dragon. If only... He died because of his floaty movement and too big-ass-to-dodge-projectiles-ness to get it.

personally I've found the only thing dragons are actually good at is demolishing bosses (except the slime obviously) their only use is bosses and looking for treasure. But yeah I'd agree they're crazy underpowered as is

I think the Dragon is totally not worth it, especially because when you already beat the game 2 or 3 times it is just way less effective then Barbarian/Hokage in my opinion

Hate to pop your balloon here, but nothing happens if you try to change spells with the Dragon. He is forever bound to dragonfire.

I've unlocked every perk and maxed them all out, even with max int and mana he is useless, im in new game+4 and he takes at least 5 or 6 shots to kill the easier enemies

Dragon CAN change spells. I've done it multiple times. This class is actually really powerful, just takes some finesse.

Not sure I agree with that. I found slime guy (my guess is you mean Herodotus?) super easy to beat with the Dragon class. I also got lucky and got one with the P.A.D. trait but even without that you can do this boss without getting hit.

Having said that I generally avoid picking Dragon and usually just reroll the classes if the other two suck.

He's fun to play, and his perma-flight comes in handy against those stupid "Don't take damage" spike obstacle rooms.

Does seem a bit weak though, then again I don't have much invested in the "Magic Damage Up" tree, so I've just assumed that was why.

Just slap on speed boosts(not too much or you go crazy), get a bit of int boosts, and int gear and you're golden with the dragon class.
