Xbox controller not working.

I've got an official xbox controller, and i just can't get this game to recognise my controller and flip to xbox controls instead of keyboard.
I don't know if i am missing something simple here, but how do you get this game to recognise and utilise a standard Xbox controller?

yes, windows recognises the controller, and it works in other games as well (tested it in L4D2, and dead island). So as far as i know, the controller is working absolutely fine.

Sometimes the game won't recognize my wired xbox controller. What I did is exit game, unplug the controller, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in and load the game. The game will then recognize the controller.

what might be useful is, when the xbox controller is plugged in for you, how do you initially get the game to recognise that you want to use the controller instead of the keyboard?
That could help me in trying to diagnose the problem :P

Have you added a aux keybourd like a razor nostramo. if so you might need to disable the drivers for it for the xbox contoller to work.

ok, i finally got it to work.
I completely scrubbed the Xbox 360 drivers from my PC, then reinstalled with the basic windows ones, and the game finally recognised it :)
