When you know all foes movement and when/how to attack them without being wounded, it'll become much easier.
Don't hesitate to explore and farm some gold where it's easier before fighting the boss.
Buy best equip' as soon as you got their blueprints.
In the skill tree, invest at least one point in the skills in the right, to unlock the "+10% gold" per level skill.
At the beginning, invest in life skill.
For your character class, I personnally only use Barbarian or Paladin whenever it's possible.
I am not a kid here and I do not need others to tell me how to have fun with the games I purchased.
If I find it more fun to get more gold which each run into the castle, why are the developers preventing me to have such option? At this moment, I am ready to quit the game because it is so frustratingly slow to progress. So between having no fun at all with this game (because I stopped playing it) and having my kind of fun with it (getting more gold than I am obtaining with each run now), how is it that developers would rather have me picking the first option (giving up and playing other games)?
There are upgrades to get more gold, you just have to get to that point. Stop b*tching. The game is supposed to be hard; you say you're not a kid but you sure are acting like one.
You suck. You don't have the skillset to tackle this gem, so of course you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and griping up a storm. I wish there were an option to post pictures to this board, I have one of a baby crying with the caption, "IT'S TOO HARD!!"
Go find a game better suited to you and quit whining, kiddo.
It's probably because that wasn't the style of Roguelike games in the past, so it's not the style of Rogue Legacy. It is tricky, especially in the early stages and some of the middle stages if you choose the "wrong" things to upgrade too early.
I recommend doing a buttload of gold runs rather than trying to progress in the game, so that you get a chance to upgrade health and attack damage. These really help to level the playing field.

I did not post this to get approval from any of you. I just hope developer will see my comment and realize not everyone enjoys the current pace they made for the game. Metal Slugh 3 is also a game you are supposed to be able to complete without a single continue, but they gave the option to use infinite continues to the player if he wanted to play that way. I see absolutely nothing wrong with giving options to the players so they can play the game the way they want. They are the ones paying for the game. Having several difficulty options for a game is an honored tradition in gaming and the fact Rogue Legacy has none only speaks against the game. I wont recommend it because of that.
Rogue Legacy did get difficulty settings in the console and Vita version. They are more "casual" systems; sounds PERFECT for you.
Go play it on there and enjoy easy mode.
Guy is just asking if there's cheat codes because it's too hard for him. No need to pile up on him as it's not as if the guy said the game sucks and everyone who likes it is a bunch of losers or anything.
He's right though to an extent... as in it's really hard. After having watched MFPallyTime let's plays of it I was looking at his videos thinking "Man, you suck. How could you die like that?" but having played it it's ♥♥♥♥ hard. I dunno if it's hand-eye co-ordination or if it takes getting used to or the controls a bit off/unexpected but it's hard. I can hardly get 200gold at times. That's not to say I want it to be easier, I enjoy the challenge, just that i'm commenting on the fact that the game is actually hard.
There's a wide variety of games available where you can achieve quik progression and instant gratification with minimal time investment. Please don't go looking, or ask for, those elements in roguelikes. Those elements are pretty much the antithesis what roguelikes are about, hence the reactions here.
Worst news is, this isn't even a real roguelike, it's combat is way too simplistic, and frankly, it's progression is fairly quik as well, if you think this is too hard or slow, stay away from anything labelled "roguelike" and don't even touch it with a 10ft pole. Don't buy apples and go expecting pears please...
Nowadays games are just too easy. When I think about old games, they were difficult and that's why we loved them *NES & Amiga 500 nostalgic*.
Therefore, lowering the difficulty would a little ruin the fun of the game.
I'll try another approach, according to your avatar : there is no cheat menu because God didn't want to. He tells me in my dream ! I'm serious. Why don't you believe me ? :)
You see, that one was mean. Do you feel the difference ? ;)
Dr Larry > No, he said he won't recommand the game just because of the difficulty level. That's why a lot of people argued with him.
But this is all our mistake. We shouldn't have argued with an unrationnal person in the first place !
But isn't than cool?
