Platforming would be muuuuch easier with a controller, but keyboard is totally doable
In the same way, using a gamepad for 2D platformers is superior. That doesn't mean it's a necessity.
It's all about what you're used to and comfortable with. Some people prefer gamepads, some prefer the keyboard. While one method might have advantages, if you suck with that method or find it uncomfortable then there's certainly no point in using it only to become marginally better. It's just personal preference.
If the game wasn't meant to be played a certain way, then it wouldn't support that method.
Yeah, like I'm pretty sure if I plug in a bongo controller, this game would not read it. :P
It certainly seems impossible to play a game with a totally different control device than what you're used to, as keyboards and gamepads are VERY different. The same could be said for jumping onto an arcade machine if you've never used one. Heck, I grew up on N64. Try using THAT controller for the first time and see how well you do :P
Also... don't ask the Quake Live community how to use a controller for the game.......... they don't like people playing their game apparently.
Some people do attack you for not using a controller, those people have...problems.
