Is there any reliable way to beat Alexander IV?
At all? I'm pretty sure this battle is entirely luck-based, and it's infuriating.

- Take your time.
- If you find yourself stuck, jump on the spikes¹, take advantage of the inv. frames and find a safe place.
- Kill the minions to restore health.
- Pay attention to the boss patterns, know when he's just "floating around' and when he's moving towards you.
- It isn't safe to attack the boss when he's charging towards you, so, don't do it.
- Do not try to kill ALL the minions, but do not let them swarm you either.

¹: The spikes deal less damage then the boss or the minions.

There is also this guy's video:

No damage on all remixed bosses.

The strategy of this video can help, but it's still heavily luck based.
Very poor game design. Worst boss of the game.

My advice, don't let him stray too far away for too long. Even if you feel like you need a moment to breathe. Pause for that. He's still spawning mobs while he's away, but they're too far away from you to aggro. So instead of drifting your way, they just stay over there, waiting for you to blink to the other side so they can ambush you.

And really a large bit of luck for where he decides to stop and shoot.

Managed to do it with these tips, but only after locking my FPS at 30.

Didn't care for Neo Khidr. Astrodotus was a lot of fun. Freon felt like the fairest fight, while staying extremely challenging.

I finally beat this guy. It only took about a million hours. My most successful strategy was to stay on the right side, mitigate the damage with spikes and keep the number of furies to a minimum.

Gonna be honest, I gave up on trying to dodge all damage... I suppose, my reflexes just ain't that sharp.

I actually think these seconday bosses you fight are stupid. They ruin what was otherwise a perfectly balanced and fun game. These bosses are not fun and they are frustrating as hell.

Using characters you would never even touch if you weren't being forced to use them. I hate that I probably won't get these achievements because they are so annoying to do.

I've been fighting the eye with the useless Swords Woman for about three hours today and not felt like I was any closer to beating it. Just feels like one time I am going to get lucky and JUST manage to defeat it.

I thought Astrodotus was fun. Freon is the closest they get to fair, though.

Khidr and Alexander just suck. A lot.

I liked all remixed boss fights.
Emulates the dificult level of old games.
I think it's harder to beat Battletoads than kill all remixed bosses without taking damage.

And even with that many people saying that it is luck based.
Well, it is not.
I mean, there is some RNG, but, skill is still, more important.
I believe that people who plays shmups and platformers do not have all that problem that most people have. (too bad I don't play any shoot'em up)

I play plenty of both, new and old. Still stand by what I said.

What?
In terms of "fair fight", Neo Khidr is the best of them by far.

All his attacks can be avoided with proper space and timing, he has no random patterns and he doesn't move. All you got to do is learn his patterns and how to avoid them.
I manage to beat him 3 times in a row without getting a single hit.

Damn, really? Got any videos? I'd be really impressed and would love to pick up some tips from it, since I really do think that Freon is the fairest fight.

I don't have a video of me playing, but with this video you can get an idea of how to dodge his attacks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZR0S0FsTcQ

I've given up on Alexander. The only one's I've beaten are Neo Khidr (AWFUL) and Astrodotus. Good luck and congrats to anyone that has beat them all.

Neo Khidr was a blast. Beating him felt rewarding as heck. Alexander IV however, just felt like luck.

On the Vita version I found a cheap trick to take care of Alexander IV, but I have no idea if it works on the PC version as well. After a lot of frantic jumping back and forth between the left and right section of the arena I discovered that sometimes Alexander would get so far away from me that he would cease to pursue me. If I inched my character back towards him slowly at some point he'd come back into range and start chasing me again. The thing is, even if he wasn't pursuing me he was still regularly spawning minions, so if I let the game sit for a minute or two he'd max out on the number of spawns allowed, so that when I came back into range again he'd come at me but wouldn't spawn any additional enemies. The fight would then be trivially easy because all you're doing is jumping around in a circle avoiding him and his one attack, while all his minions are sitting far enough away that they don't notice you. Again, not sure if this is just a quirk of the port or if it would also work on PC, but if you're stuck on that boss it might be worth it just to test out trying to get as far from Alexander as possible.
