Ive been having this problem, and uninstalling uplay does work for me, but Im not sure if it would for you guys.

If you did something like alt-f4 the game or pressing restart button without exiting the game properly, it'd give you this error on next startup.

Solved: (May be not working for everyone but Im trying)

I deleted my "The Crew" folder in my My Documents folder (Not the game dir), such as in
"Libraries\Documents"
or
"C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents"

Hope this will help

OMG DUDEEEEEEEE IT WORKED FOR MEE!!!!!!!!! REALLY THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANT!!

If anyone is still having this issue and you have the newest nvidia gpu driver(idk about amd) you need to go to the nvidia website and download the second newest gpu driver because currently the newest driver is causing troubles with the crew. Atleast that's what solved it for me after ages of searching for a fix. if that doesn't work i suggest actually ringing ubisoft up because i was searching through forums for ages trying to find a fix and i couldn't so i just decided to ring them up and the guy told me that and it worked, this is the website with their phone numbers on it https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/Contact#en-gb also make sure you tick the clean install box otherwise stuff from the newest driver might carry over and make it not work. hope this helps :)

I have the same Problem i deinstalled THE CREW and hurray it works NICE some days later same Problems again i reinstalled THE CREW 2x and it still crashes bevore The INTRO shows up.

I can play all my Games all works fine on my PC only THE CREW not.

The last time i run in such Problems was with EA Games, Ubisoft (TDU 1+2 in TDU 1 you need PLAYER PATCHES for a good gameplay), (and the Developer no longer exists JoWood and 4 Head with The Guild)

So Ubisoft is one of the Top 3 Developer you better dont buy Software.
Maybe Ubisoft should change their business and better open a supermarket Series instead of Programming Games. XD

EDIT:

after Installed older Drivers for my GCard and deactivate some uplay overlay for compatible games etc i can play again.

It is not game issue. It is Nvidia issue. So we are waiting for Nvidia Updare.

I wanted to vote this person up since this comment got it working on my Brother's PC. I simply roll back drivers and the game worked great. So thank you for making that comment! :D::steamhappy::angryu::boredk::embarrassedh:

I will add that when I rolled back drivers on my brother's PC it went back to version 368.20. He doesn't get on much but he did buy the Run today. He was playing eariler today then switch to Homefront revolution and he was getting 20fps in that game (GTX 970). I said that he should update drivers and he did, the game seemed to improve so we played Co op in Homefront. After that the Crew would not start. After searching the Google I found NexUZ's comment so I rolled back to the previous drivers (368.20 for him). The game started right up.

Side note: After getting the latest drivers on Geforce Expericence, it said that the optimal settings for the Crew was a resolution of 2168 X 1388 (Something weird like that). He plays on a 1080p TV. I've tried changing that setting but it was always changing back to that resolution. I've deleted the Crew folder in Document and all that. We did the verify files then the re install. It's truly those latest drivers.

I'm an advent PC Fanboy so I don't like it when games my brother wants to play don't work and makes the PC looks bad. Luckly, the Fix came early thanks to NexUz.:tgrin:

Edit: Typos, Drinking right now, Cheers!
