(Lv.37) [Escape Velocity] near-impossible?
So far I had 4 attempts at succeeding at this mission but to no avail. For those of you who wonder, it is the mission where you have to complete a timed challenge in the Rocky Mountains while using a Perf. spec car.

The combination of icy roads and a high-hp car with tires not designed for these kind of surfaces is just awful. Unless I keep my RPM below about 3500, I just lose traction whenever I try to accelerate and unfortunately the road primarly consists of hairpins and other tight turns. Perhaps its just because Im using the wrong car (HotRod) but this mission just seems way too difficult to me. For 6 minutes straight, I literally keep having to shift into higher gears to avoid spinning out, yet for speeds sake I sometimes still have to switch to a low gear and the effort I have to put in keeping the car under control (Im using a keyboard, so it always accelerates at 100% power) is really tiring

it's doable, i did it with a below par car too and yes, i was using KB.

My car actually is far above par, Im guessing its just a car-issue though because Im assuming that the HotRod by default has more wheelspin than the other Perf. cars

Just did it first try with a Ram SRT-10 @ 640 performance index and had 15 seconds to spare and that gave me silver

Tried messing around with throttle linearity, steering sensitivity?
Another solution would be to use manual gearing and using that to keep revs down.
As soon as the car starts to loose traction, gear up.

Did it with a wheel so its sort of diffrent but i went slow through corners and then opened up on the straights. completed with <2sec to spare.. silver medal.

I did it in my hotrod, the Ferrari is uncontrollable at any speed in the snow.

You're going to hate when they make you do it again in a couple of missions though. Seriously, I have just spent the last ten or so missions building a couple of vehicles that can go anywhere and this cheating game makes me use a Performance spec. Bollocks.

Honestly the hot rods are purely for visuals. They are VERY subpar for actually racing. They handle like trucks.

I did it with a ferrari and it felt like The Crew: Murican Drift 2014. AND with arrow keys. git good!

Yes, I've been doing it with manual gears but even then its still quite difficult because if you shift to a higher gear too soon you just won't accelerate enough

I have completed this mission now though, with about 1.5 sec to spare, but with my car level about 170 levels above what was recommended for this mission

Thank you for this, that car put me 30 seconds ahead of time when I passed the Finish, still got silver so ♥♥♥♥ that mission. Lamborghini couldn't do it.

Rear-Wheel Drive cars and super/hypercars can't do that mission. It's a winding, snowy road, and you have to get to a place within a time limit. They'll just spin their wheels due to the torque and high horsepower that they naturally have.

The Skyline, with its All-Wheel Drive and its simple, 2.5L Inline-6 engine, despite it being Performance-spec, did far better, at a low enough level for the game to state that it would be "HARD", than my McLaren MP4-12C which was at an appropriate level for the mission.
