Maybe 1024 kbps because of voice-chat?
If you wanted to say that you download with 100kb/s then you should also know that it's exactly a 1mb connection. Requirements for all games don't ask X "download" speed, they ask for x "connection" speed.
Also, Darth a lot of people I know are still stuck with 1.5Mbit DSL. The states are much further behind than many like to believe.
There is a x8 factor of difference between those 2
1B=8b
so 1kB=8kb
and then 1024kbps=1mbps=128kBps(the speed you usually read while downloading)
so if you Internet provider says it can give you 50mbps, you get 6400kBps while downloading at maximum (Steam is good at giving you maximum transfer rate!)
