When does the game let me freedrive?

When can I let missions wait and just go freedriving across the country? I've completed the first few initiation missions and I'm now in the gang. It has a tutorial about freedrive but doesn't say how to actually go INTO freedrive....

At which point can I drive around freely? Or how do I do it if I already can and I'm just doing something wrong?

When you're not in a mission, you're already in free drive mode. Unless you're telling me there's some sorta bug keeping you inside a mission, I've no idea what you're talking about.

The woman on the phone keeps bugging me, saying I need more experience, and the missions are constantly flashing on the map.. Yeah I'm in free drive mode there, I guess, but when does the harrassement to do missions and get more xp stop?

After you finished detroit you will get crew credits and choose a faction. If I remember well after that she wont bother you and will only talk when you are near a mission portal.

When I finish Detroit? How do I do that? The 5th-6th story mission is ranked level 20 and the game says "impossible" right on it - It's the first drag race with one of the gang guys. I've done like 20 side missions - precision, slalom, jump, etc - but I'm still only at level 5... How the HELL am I supposed to get to level 20? WITHIN 20 HOURS??

Is this how the game is purposefully designed? Now I have to grind for 100 hours, 50 xp at a time, just to advance thru the first 2 per cent of the game???

Is there a better way to earn xp, preferrably solo? Or is the game's way of forcing me to do multiplayer, and lose repeatedly cuz my car is too weak?

Or am I missing something? Need help..

There was a faction mission which made it easy, but it was removed, you might wanna try some easy, short ones and do them over and over.

Also, if by multiplayer you mean PvP, it doesn't matter what place you finish, rewards are always same.

Just play story missions till she tells you to go meet a guy in chicago. I stopped getting parts for my car at level 15ish and all I did other than story was getting the landmarks in detroit. I didnt play pvp till I was level 50 so Im not sure why your having trouble really...

hi man. dont care about the girl.... xD.shes saying this about the greens challenges. missions are easy. just wach the car lvl required to do missions and all will be fine.

Ya, I finally noticed that it was my CAR LEVEL that needed to be 20, not my player level - or whatever it's called. I did a bunch of challenges and unlocked some parts, my car was at 59 by the time I noticed - gave that drag event another try and smoked him. Guess my brain just didn't register or I skipped past that part of the tutorial, idk. All good now tho.
