Due to the way the game operates with Uplay accounts and server data, the best bet would be both purchase the game to play together. Hope this helped.
You can play any game on family share at the same time, family share does not mean co-op, it means you share "shareable" games on your account with trusted people you know, as soon as you start to play any game from your account it gives them a warning and will disconnect them from your library, regardless of the game. Uplay would it make it not possible regardless.
