The Crew

The Crew Servers Permanently Closed!!!
I have been struggling to get it to load with cannot connect to proxy error code #0.1. Tried a few cures that failed. REDIT forums show that Ubisoft shut down all servers in March 2024 and pulled the game for sale. They want you to buy the new version! They destroyed their game out of greed. They have the option to turn it into a Single Player with no servers but declined. I signed the Change.org petion to turn it loose. I feel robbed and expect The Crew 2 to be destroyed soon enough. I am done with Ubisoft games forever more.

Supposedly they will be adding offline play for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest but still they refuse to add it to The Crew 1 which is messed up

Well, I am setting my feet at it too. I dont own my games you dont own my money, wont be purchasing Ubisoft games and regardless of already owning a lot off Ubisoft games before what they did to The Crew 1, including The Crew 2 that I already had way before it happened..

There's a fan offline/online server emulator in the works that'll let people play both offline as well as online on community servers + mod support. It's made a lot of progress. So far, you can play through almost all of the campaign (I think all that's left is the West Coast chapter). The goal is to have the offline portion of the emulator out by December in time for the 10th anniversary of the game.

You can join the The Crew Unlimited Discord server here[discord.gg]. There you'll be informed. Be sure to read the FAQ that's included on the server, and check #project-news to keep up-to-date on the project.

The "fan made project" just wont make me purchase more Ubisoft games (more because I already own a lot).
It is Ubisoft that have to "solve it" giving us The Crew 1 back, not the fans (and the prroject still under a chance of being cancelled by Ubisoft due to being sued by Ubisoft).
I may see to play the fan made project if it ever come out but it dont fix the situation with Ubisoft 1 bit

Well, I never said it does. That's the thing, and I wholeheartedly agree. I still give the middle finger to Ubisoft either way. They genuinely don't care about us. But I already own this game, I enjoyed it, and I'll be damned if Ubisoft keeps me from playing the game I already bought.

While I have a couple random Ubisoft games that people have gifted me over the years, or games I picked up that were free for a limited time (like Watch_Dogs 2), the last game I ever actually bought with my own money was The Crew 1. And obviously, we can see how that turned out. The Crew was released like right before companies started pulling all the BS. Soon after around that time, I started seeing where AAA games were going, and vowed not to give them my money ever again until they changed their ways (they ultimately never did).

I do highly recommend checking that thing out though if you liked this game. Whether you choose to play this or not, it doesn't hurt Ubisoft in the slightest, and you already bought it, so the way I see it might as well play it.

You're saying that Ubisoft have the option to turn the game into a Single Player with no servers.

How do you know that?

What makes you think that this is an easy task? Are you developing games?

Most of the single player code is at The Crew already (always was), meaning Ubisoft just stripped the game off of it to makee it online only.
HHow do you do that?
It is easier to make it SP first and MP later than vice-versa and exactly for that reason the game has most of the code there.
It is not hard like asking a SP game to be turned into MP game, it is the opposite and on a thing that is mostly done (and that I 99.999% believe Ubi themselves have the fullcode for SP somewhere but wont ever release an update to it because they never had intentions for that).

I got used to not owning my Ubisoft games.
Ubisoft get used to not owning my (and several other players) money.
Fair and square, at least I am not hidding myself behind fancy words.

(and before someone comment, even because I wont be reading or replying to that but stil wiill leave the message as itt is eventualll to happen the Ubisoft employee will defend Ubi saying I am a liar, I dont care if the CEO meant it directly towards The Crew 1 or not, I could not care less, and yes he sort of meant it and I stand by it also stand by the fact Ubi is a scammer company for doing so as The Crew 1 never was sold as subscription model neither should ever be treated as such).

I agree with you that it is easier to convert MP game to SP game, but still, I did not participate on The Crew' development, so I don't know a thing about that. And I can't understand what makes you think that "Most of the single player code is at The Crew already".

The Crew 1 was sold and marketed exactly as an online only game, which means that it will be dead eventually with no option to play it offline.

Of course, it's a shame that the servers were closed, but it was inevitable. It was Ubisoft intension to make this game online only and they owe nothing to players.

Modders that are tryinv to either make the single player patch or make it work on unofficial server checked the game code and found out vast majority of what is needed for it to run single player is there, Ubi just needed to do a patch that would prob not even be big fir The Crew 1 to work offline ... but Ubi intentionally made it not work by removing parts of its code to run on their servers (so they did have "more work" to make single player "not work") so when the time came they could just remove everyone access trying to force people to purchase their latest entry (Motorfest) ...aged like fine milk on the Sahara desert under a fullday of sun...

Everytime they release a game we should go warn users of their intention to steal their money...

The games I paid for have all been removed from Ubisoft except for The Crew 2. I don't like any of the free games I have except for the Rayman games. I'm definitely avoiding Ubisoft and Origin like the plague. Xbox also. We are going to see much of the same problems.
