this is here is proof of why supporting GOG is important if you want to support preservation of games
If you own a physical copy of the operating system, it can be installed. If you don't own a physical copy, it's fairly easy to find a legit one to buy. Virtual machines exist - you can pretty much run Windows XP/Vista/7/8 on a semi-decent Windows 10/11 PC. GOG exists, having lots of these old games patched up to use on modern systems. Sigh... Mods exist - excellent modding communities which have patched up games to not only run on modern systems, but private servers.
Now, tell me again what your argument has to do with Ubisoft robbing their customers, 'cos if you think this will stop with The Crew, you're sorely mistaken.
Mine was on Steam, launching just takes you to the Ubisoft Connect client, and asks you for an activation code, so unfortunately fella, you don't...
"You no longer have access to this game. Why not check the Store to pursue your adventures?"
Yeah how about i give you this one instead?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the audacity of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. At least when you take action at
https://www.stopkillinggames.com/
you can screenshot their reply as them ignoring you. Only hurts them more
Not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard, is it Ubisoft!!
♥♥♥♥ you Ubisoft.
Hopefully the community can save this game by modding in server workarounds but we will never waste another penny with bullysoft. This is not how you treat your clients, the least they could have done before shutting down online support on an online only game, is to add offline patches.
The reason that they wont do that... They think were stupid enough to believe we need to keep paying for new and more restrictive games, That have built in micro-transactions to feed the beast they are... stay away, far away from these corperations. i hope they fail miserably going forward after pulling a stunt like this!
I mentioned another example of an abhorrent practice within this industry many people accepted.
I've just re-read your post and yes, you're correct - I obviously completely misread it.
Apologies.
