I don't want any newer games, just my money back or an offline only patch.

They won't give your money back. They will pull the plug and move on.
You Don't own the game. You pay for a license. They can terminate that access whenever they feel like. Welcome to modern gaming.

They can't, actually, not legally.

They can. Its been discussed many times in the past. You pay for a License. You don't own anything.
Just like how Valve, Microsoft and Sony can Terminate you account with a snap of finger.
This is why I slowly stop purchasing new titles, because One day you will lose access to it.
Unless they change their terms of services, they will get away with this.

When you pay for a Mariah Carrey album, you aren't entitled to royalties even though you "own" the album, you pay for a licensed copy. A clerk can also later take it back, but that's theft, even if they get away with it.

ToS doesn't supersede law lol

Does a physical disc count as a license? Because this game had physical discs. A company cannot take a disc or its contents away from me. If I want to give my disc to a friend or let them borrow it, it's entirely within my right, because I own that copy.

Would you be mad if you bought Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 for the PS2 back in the day, and an Electronic Arts representative came by your house to break it in half so you could no longer play it?

My point is, a ToS does not mean anything period. You can say "you don't own anything" all you want. Doesn't matter, don't care. A company cannot take away a game from you just because they feel like it. Now, if they banned you or something for hacking the game or cheating, that's one thing. But something like this, shutting down servers, has nothing to do with the consumers. This is something entirely out of our control as players. Thus, making this illegal.

Yes, sometimes companies can take things away from you, but it's not "for whatever reason" like they claim. It must be within reason, and usually has something to do with the fault of the end user. Not because the company itself screwed up.

It's so pointless to bring up the ToS and that we don't own anything. Yeah. We do. Doesn't matter what they say. We do own this. We paid for an instance/a copy of the game. If you buy a disc, you're free to do whatever you want with the contents of that disc. All except for copying/distributing the disc's contents. That's piracy, and that's a whole different story altogether. But everything else, you can do what you please.

And since you bring up Valve, okay, sure. If you own a Steam account, they can take your account away for violating their rules. They cannot take your account away just because they feel like it. Only when you break anything under their contract can they take it away. In other words it has to be something on your end. Not on theirs.

Ubisoft could theoretically, while still illegal in most circumstances, take a game away from us, but we'd have to be breaking their guidelines in order for that to happen. So that's a pretty terrible excuse because having them shut down servers does not equal us violating their terms. Companies can revoke access to you for any reason, but that reason still has to involve you breaking the terms in the first place. That's what they actually mean by "any reason". Again, that doesn't mean "just because they feel like it". It legally cannot mean that. They mean "breaking the terms given to you in any way, shape or form".

Of course I would be mad.
But the thing is, digital media have different set of rules vs Phyical. Yes back in the days when you bought something it was yours to keep. Since you owned it Physically. Kinda hard to take away.

But since everything is shifting over to digital. Those rules have changed. You're paying for a license.

And Company's can delist and even take away access. Sure that game is still in Library, But ask yourself this, how long do you think those servers stay up to re-download them.
Sony has recently posted that they're going to remove Discovery show's from their Playstation Store. So even if you purchased them, you will still lose acces to them.

This can happen to video game as well. So like I said, those terms of services needs to change to protect the consumer.
These companies are only here to make money. And if they want to screw you over, they will.

I've seen people being banned for far less.
It doesn't take much to be banned. Accounts get hacked and abused all the time, and that will result in a termination of your account.

The thing is, companies needs to be more clear.

Nope, you need to be connected to their servers at all times. You can't leave the main menu without a connection.

So at some point you're not gonna want to download and play a game again and then find out that they killed the servers off while you were away? Then what? Tough luck going by your words? Why bother making servers for games anyways? Why not let folks host their own server lobbies on their own hardware.. oh wait, this isn't 2005... Nevermind. Either give us our money back, or give us an offline patch, it's that easy... except it's probably not and none of those idiots want to put in idk how much work it would be for them to make a patch that let us play in an offline limited state or giving us our money back would hurt their wallets so that can't do that either.

Funny as hell though because there's offline stuff present in the code that we're trying to get working, Ubisoft probably just doesn't want to follow through with it.
Going to add this bit. If the game had/shipped with an offline patch, I don't think folks would be "this" pissed. I wouldn't be either.
