Xbox 360 controller not working

I remember first getting this game and finding some enjoyment out of it. I managed to play with my controller back then and again on my laptop.

After installing the game again on my desktop (Same as I used originally), I found it crashed (yay), so I installed the previous drivers so I could launch the game. I'm now unable to use my Xbox 360 controller. It works fine for other games, so no reason it shouldn't work for this one. Are there any tips on how to get it working again?

If it is a wireless, try this, unplug the wireless adapter WHILST playing the game and plug it back in. Then press the buttons to find the signal.

Also if you have changed the USB port from the one you used the first time, switch back. I found 360 controllers can be funny about this for some bizarre reason.

It's a wired controller, but I can't say if it's in the same one or not. The controller working in one USB port and not another seems unlikely unless there's a fault with an individual port, which I'm fairly certain isn't the case as it works with every other game I've played recently with no issues.

Yeah, it was Watson grade obvious!! -.- Uninstalled the controller from device manager, restarted and it worked again.
